How do y'all feel about the new trend of gouging tourists on admission fees?$35 to walk up a tower and they make you pay $9 more for an audioguide that doesn't work $35 to walk inside the Hagia Sophia when most of it's closed off and 2 years ago it was free
>new trendIt's an ancient trendThey're just adjusting the entry fee gouging to the "fuck you faggot no fun for you any more, ever" level that all the other fun things in life are now already at.
>>2901704Everything is free if you own a knife Just threaten to stab a cunt and watch them step out of your way
>>2901704why is a tower in turkey charging people in euros
>>2901730Their currency is toilet paper
>>2901730Because charging in the worthless Lira would require updating the board every hourTurkey has massively hiked all tourist-relevant pricing in the last couple years in an effort to obtain more foreign currency. Charging in Euro/USD is the whole point.
>>2901730Because Americans don't go to Turkey and locals get in for almost free. People shit on turkey but they will overtake every European economy in a few years
>>2901763EU is $0.15 in value better than USA. Why did you Americans do it, why did you vote for awful government policies.
>>2901704Everyone here claims they aren't a tourist, but rather some special snowflake RealTravelerâ„¢ adventurer. So they don't care about tourist attractions.
>>2901770>they will overtake every European economy in a few years
>>2902114>Based on the latest IMF World Economic Outlook (April 2026) and current growth trajectories, Turkey is projected to overtake the United Kingdom in GDP (PPP) by 2029, but overtaking France will likely take until 2030 or 2031.This enrages the low iq racists who themselves brag about being incel parasites but western cuck countries are committing suicide. Turkey will soon be number 3 in Europe behind Russia and Germany overtaking Germany by 2035
>>2902153>RussiaIt won't even exist in 2035. It has never been anywhere even close to having a GDP of a medium sized European country.
>>2902159How did they so easily defeat Ukraine and Nato?
>>2902153kara booga wakanda forever
>>2901730It's what you do if your own currency is worthless and hyper inflated. Montenegro, Albania and Kosovo does the same with the EUR and CHF.
>>2902174I must have missed the news. When did NATO surrender to the small insignificant chihuahua that is russia?
been thinking about going to istanbul but the fees are seriously offputting. probably still going to go and be a paypig though (im not poor)
>>2901704globalized mass tourismeverything is due to mass tourismif #tourist < max capacity there usually is no fee (unless it's something staff intensive)but tourism increased everywhere so they increased the feesthe worst offenders are Turkey, Croatia and Italy in generalalso Switzerland, but only because everything is expensive therethe alternative to high prices isn't that much betterthen they restrict tickets and make you reserve your spot 5 months in advanceor fight for a ticket during the first 5min of opening sales at exactly midnight 2 weeks in advance so cannot plan anything properlyhappens to a lot of popular historic sites in Europe or Chinain China at least you can sometimes get around this by playing the dumb tourist who can't use WeChat to reserve tickets
>>2902290Just skip the attractions, the hagia Sophia wasn't impressive even when it was free, paying$50-$100 for 20 minutes in a tower or building will leave you in a bad mood. The city otherwise is very interesting and affordable great to just walk around
>>2902308I don't think I've paid 50 bucks but I have paid like 20 bucks for tours I've really enjoyed. I went to this tour of an old PA home on like a "town appreciation day" and the tour went on for hours the guide told every story possible we eventually just left she wasn't done. I also recently paid 3$ to climb a lighthouse and then I left my paper ticket in the car cuz I was clearing my pockets and this guy yelled at me while I was on the steps to see my ticket lol cuz you paid in a different building.
>>2902308>the hagia Sophia wasn't impressive even when it was freeWhat the fuck does even impress you peopleIt's absolutely one of a kind in how old and massive it is (while not being a pyramid)
>>2902492Ive been to lots of nice churches, in Romania for example in the Transylvania region, fabulous. Mosques are boring, all of them.
>>2902510Good thing it was built as a church then
>>2901704im in istanbul and i literally thought the same thing yesterday for hagia sophia and palacewe are basically funding the poor here its fine
>>2902513muzzrats squatting in something they murdered 100,000 christians to take doesn't make it impressive, it makes it disgusting and sullied
>>2902308>the hagia Sophia wasn't impressive
