A couple were really kind to me yesterday when the ATM swallowed my card, another stranger offered to help this morning when I was having trouble printing in Family Mart. People are lovely here. Not quite on the level of some SEA countries but better than Korea, China etc for sure. Like I said, they don't lead in anything.

The main thing I see with people who didn't like Taipei is that they refused to stay anywhere outside of the most expensive real estate prices on Earth in exchange for 20 minute commute. They think they can live in the middle of a massive city right on Central Park for Bangkok prices.

Amusingly most long term monthly rental people in BKK stay 25 minutes out on the Sukhumvit line but don't think twice about that.
New Taipei is superior unless you visiting for only a week, even end of the line in Xindian is quick as fuck into the city center.
