What is there to visit in Athens, preferably lesser known and/or less expensive. Maybe free? Heard about a Trireme they're hosting so wondering if there are more things like that
>>2903044There is museum in Paleo Faliro that has the Battleship Averof, a Greek destroyer Velos that is turned into a metapolitefsi/anti junta monument and a reconstructed tireme. I recommend to visit it. It is also close to the Stavros Niarchos foundation park and national library that is worth visiting. If you do take the elevator to get a good view of the city. Most tourists don’t go there, but it is very worthwhile.

>>2903044Almost all museums are free the first and third Sunday of the month (if I recall correctly, but yeah twice a month), this includes visiting the Parthenon which is nice since the ticket is pretty pricey (30 euros). I recommend going to the National Archeological Museum which has pretty much the entirety of the history of ancient Greece from the neolithic up to the Roman times, you will find the most famous ancient Greek artifacts and statues there
