Why would you ever climb up a mountain? There's nothing up there. It's just rocks nigga

>>2903888I climbed mt shashta in 2014. 14,000 ft / 4300m.It was expensive and needlessly dangerous, I was not fully prepared or conditioned for the altitude. Its an easy climb compared to other stuff, too.If you are serious about alpine climbing you need to be serious about your training and conditioning, is all I can say. If you lose consciousness in a bad spot you can die or cause other people to die trying to help you.
>>2903888Ive climbed numerous peaks but all were 1 day climbs, usually 2000-3000+ m. With max inclination of ~1500m per climb.I prefer peaks that arent covered by snow/places where you dont have to carry special gear for.So I think its more of mountain hiking than climbing, i just enjoy the treak, views and good meal/rest when I return. People should do what they enjoy but I also think that doing anything like 7k+ is reserved for elitist egomaniacs and stupid mad people, especialy everest trips. My favorite spots are pico azores (for view), around zillertal peaks (there were almost a dozen) and swinica plus red peaks in tatra mountains.
My dad climbed Iran's Mt. Damavand (5,609m) two years ago. He's a pretty based boomer.
