I am an 18 year old German male on a 4 week Trip to the USA, i am currently in Kansas with a friend. We are planning to drive through Oklaholma and texas to new mexico and Arizona as we want to see the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam. is there anything you would suggest we do or tips you could give us?I am planning on bringing spare clothing and lots of Water incase we get stuck, along with a few hundred dollars for merchandise/souvenirs

>>2904563The interstates are a good way to get there fast, but there's usually not much outside of a Buc-ee's or something like that. I would try to stick to highways where possible to be able to experience the country at a more relaxed pace anyways. (This may become harder the further West you go.)Kansas and Western Oklahoma are not usually places I think of as a travel destination since they are some of the flatter, more sparsely populated areas of the U.S. It's cool you are going though.It's been a while since I've traveled through there. Texas is known for it's Mexican food, brisket and beef, so I'd eat that. I like cities, so I would probably go Dallas/Fort Worth -> Waco -> Austin -> San Antonio and then start heading West.New Mexico has Santa Fe and Taos. Albuquerque I've heard can be a bit dangerous. I did a little hiking and stuff in Arizona, it's obviously a desert in a lot places. (Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter.)Grand Canyon is really cool. I'd probably sign up for the mule tour or something like that. It's another 4 hours West to Las Vegas if you want to blow your wad there.

>>2904572Oh so you guys are desert-maxxing, I drove through Colorado and Utah to get to the Grand Canyon. So Idk much about your route. I believe there's a lot of cattle ranches near Amarillo, so might be a good place to eat steak.

>>2904579I don't know if you are using Motel generally or you are specifically seeking out Motels in major cities, but they're generally not ideal outside of small towns. In bigger cities they're kind of known to be inhabited by drug addicts and prostitutes.For those big city stays, I would probably book a hotel through a travel website like hotels.com and ensure it has good reviews to avoid ending up in a sketchy part of the city. Airbnb and Vrbo are options too.
Alright we are driving back after our rear mirror fell off, we got to wichita. My friend said we wilk have to take a greyhound bus.
