how is slovenia for traveling?
>>
1. We're full
2. It's ok in the spring and autumn, when the tourists fuck off.
3. Enjoy Piran, Ljubljana and Bled
>>
I spent 12 days there in early fall last year. While I enjoyed it there were things I could have done to have a better time. The goal of my trip was to just relax, read a few books and do some light outdoors stuff. I stayed in Bled for 9 days and another 3 in Ljubljana.

Things I would have done differently

1. Rent a car. The country is not very big and doesn't have the best public transport system in place. It's mostly busses and I feel like I missed out on a lot of country because I didn't feel like spending multiple hours a day on a buss
2. Bled is very beautiful but wildly over touristed. It is a day trip and nothing more. I didn't hate it because it had enough amenities around and I could have a decent meal somewhere around town every night. If you're looking for more secluded/rural places do some research and pick a different place. Even Lake Bohinj is a wildly different vibe. Be warned the country does feel very provincial outside of Ljubljana and can leave you desiring some of the higher end things.

Other than that is very nice little country. Not a ton of anglo tourists but plenty of slaves and German speakers. I couldn't imagine there would be a better time to visit than Fall. I was there a bit early but the trees still had decent color. I could only imagine how beautiful it would be in peak foliage.

i went with 2 friends about 8-9 years ago. we did a trip by car originating from berlin through czechia -> austria -> slovenia -> italy. we did some camping in austria and slovenia.

slovenia was definitely the highlight of this trip. ljubljana is a gorgeous city. the architecture feels like a mix between hungarian and austrian, and feels extremely coherent throughout the city. many of the in-between elements (like bridges, markets, riverbanks, etc.) were designed by a single architect named jože plečnik, hence the coherence.

we camped out for a couple of nights on the istrian peninsula, right between italy and croatia. during the 2nd night, we camped by a beach, and although there was a crystal-clear night sky before we went to sleep, we were woken up by a thunderstorm where lightning was striking basically every second. it was terrifying, but we decided to stay in our tents, as the path to the car led through a much more elevated position. we woke up to perfect weather, took some mushrooms we picked up in ljubljana, and i had an intense but positive experience.

anyway, you can't go wrong travelling in this general area of europe, in my experience. if i went again, i'd go during early autumn. oh, and definitely rent a car if you're able to, as the other anon said.

Slovenia? My make-believe girlfren is from there.

Boring. It's like off brand Austria. Plus points for being very white though.

1) Cheaper gas and meat
2) Friendly locals
3) Underrated country

can foreigners empty their balsacs in your teenagers?
>>
>>2905891
Can you get by with knowing Russian or Serbian, or is English the better bet?
>>
>>2910120
You can get by in any country with English
>>
>>2910120
ONLY use Serbian there.
Those fags should be shamed at every opportunity for seceding from glorious Yugoslavia.
>>
>>2910120
why would slovenians speak russian?
>>
>>2910190
Well I know Russian is East Slav and Slovenes are South Slav but I would think there’s some degree of mutual intelligibility. Plus everyone in Eastern Europe learned Russian as a 2nd language in the Soviet bloc days

I'm with ya. American here. I learned a decent amount of bokmal a few years ago for mastapatory purposes. And I helped someone the other day find a specific product in a grocery store in Denmark when I heard them using AI.

I will be there the last week of October, when did you go? Hoping itll be less busy by then and the colors solidly vibrant. What do you think? I'm just doing 2 nights there but looking forward to it more than any of the rest of the trip

I heard bratislava is really nice
>>
>>2905891

Maybe 10 years ago, but not now.

Glory days of Slovenia were short lived. Then everyone found out about it being cheap and nice and flooded it. The Slovenians thought what they had was special and jacked the prices up worse than Croatia did except Croatia has a coastline, Slovenia doesn't.
The capital is quite possibly one of the most boring places on earth.

Case and point, the good times are over.

Overall a mix of friendly and unfriendly people.
Skip it for a more interesting place like Poland or Czechia.

Two days is a little slim but I would spend one of them seeing Bled and Lake Bohinj, you can do both in a day. It's only about a 45 min bus ride between the two and pretty one at that. Yes, Bled is over tourist-ed but its that way for a reason. Def worth a walk around the lake and maybe a coffee. Focus most the day on Bohinj though particularly if the weather is nice.

Do that and a day in Ljubljana making sure to walk up to the castle. Lot more to see in the country but with only 2 days its well enough.

sorry I said that badly. I will be in Bled two nights, two full days. After that 2.5 days in Ljubliana.

I'm planning a 2 week road trip up the coast in Croatia in September next year and ending in Ljubljana.
>>
My DINK boss and his wife took a roadtrip through that part of Europe as an American, starting in France and ending in Croatia IIRC. He said Slovenia was his favorite country on the trip. Those hilly forested parts of Europe always look so lovely from the air, the perfect balance of neat modernity and a traditional Old World setting.

You gonna get gouged at every tourist trap and cheated by clerks every time you stop for gas or at Konzum. Never seen such thievery anywhere. Croations are worse than jews, gypsies, Turks, niggers or Vietnamese all they do is steal
>>
>>2913742
I use credit cards.
>>
>>2913785
Then you can pay interest on what they steal my naive friend

you're thinking about dalmatian niggers
