Any ideas for stuff to do appreciated. General tips also welcome. Your own stories about French travel would be cool to see too. Let's just make this a general French tourism thread

Not what I would do. Go to Rome instead in April. Rome, Florence, Bologna, Verona, Venice. Better art, better history, better people.

I would skip Lyon for sure. If you are into history like WW1 and 2, stick to the north. You could make an entire trip with just Paris, Normandy, and maybe Brittany. People in Normandy were extremely kind and seemed to like Americans. As other anons have said, don't overdo it and cram too much into two weeks.
Coming in with my own France questions. Gonna have 7 days in Paris, one of which will be Jan 1st so a lot of closures probably. How many days should I spend on day trips? Was thinking 1 for a Normandy day tour, 1 for Versailles, and 1 for Rouen if I'm feeling it.

Surprisingly, Paris was the least African city I visited in France because all the tourists help the ratio and the negroes are mostly segregated by costs to the outer suburbs
I went to Paris 20 years ago and it was a filthy, and very diverse shithole then. I can't imagine it's improved at all.Bon voyage!

Amboise is better located and there is more stuff to see on site.
