ayo so my gf is planning a long trip to Indochinashe saved up enough money with her previous job she can easily afford to live/travel in a third world country for a year and a half (I cant go with because I'm stuck w my duties here but will soon follow hopefully)she already traveled alone to Vietnam the experience was mixed at first but by end of the trip she found the kinda stuff she likedShe is very autistic and has very unusual preferences when it comes to travelHates any kind of tourist attractions with hoards of people, even if the place is a must see if she knows theres gonna be lots of tourists she wont go gets easily overtimulated and crashes out so no famous temples or scenic walks you see advertised online...Loves liminal looking or decadent places with a decent intersection between wild nature and a somewhat urban setting (if it looks Silent Hill tier depressing shell probs love it)needs a setting where to explore without too much human pollution, nothing big but beautiful enough to be worth the adventure,she said actually getting in touch with a local culture wouldnt be badand she's very spiritual so she's talked about wanting to be able to stay at temples to meditate and shit like that.we were mostly looking Thailand but found out that its too touristy now so idk anymore.I need tips from ppl who traveled or travel a lot about what could be goodalso am legit worried about her getting in trouble so give me some advice for the safest kind of travel

>>2907154we r based in the EU, the primary motivation would mainly be living differently in generalwe hate it here and its giving us insane depression to be stuck in a place we hate and cant get any enjoyment out of if not forcedIndochina has always been something we both kinda daydreamed of since we were kids for diff reasons:- for me its the nature, I love exploring the wild and being close to it- for her is more about spirituality and a change of scenary, sce pratices yoga and meditation and dreams about getting a deeper insight on those practices in a culture where its more prominentI'm very aware tho that todays reality of things is very different from what I daydreamed about, especially if I were to move to another country like that, sure I guess I'll find the adventure but I guess finding a job will be hard and settling in properly even harder, I dont know how welcoming would the culture be or how safe I'll find it to be living there,the fact that living is cheaper is definitely an advantage.I guess what were both afraid of is that while running from a cage well find ourselves stuck in another cage
>>2907150The map is fake and gay. Those places aren't real Indochina. I lived in India China for three months each starting last year. Malaysia was the most expensive, rent was like $215. India and China had $140 rent. India's groceries was like $2-3 a day, China's food price was hefty though, about $5-6 a day. India has cheaper telecommunications and textiles while China has cheaper electronics and manufactured goods. For a single guy I recommend India because better dating/social life but for a couple I recommend China because safer and better amenities. India has a 5 year visa, 180 days each year, and China has a 10 year visa, 90 days each trip, each of them cost about $140. You could feasibly do 90 days in China, 90 in India, 90 in China, 90 in India, one week somewhere else, and loop it indefinitely. Both countries have containment zones for noobs, with India having Goa and China having tier 1 cities like Shanghai and Chengdu so you wont get scammed or raped too hard.

I wasn't looking for jobs but in India one of the roasties I spat game to in subway station station was trying to get me to model for her (I'm just a basic white guy) In China a girl from a language exchange group was trying to get me to teach kids. She was offering high pay, like $30 an hour or something. But I declined both offers. Look into Goa, failing that the Northeast is good if you can get in. The place where the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan refugees stays is a tourist trap but it's a good story for your roastie. For China any small city is basically the same, a suburban shopping mall with a bunch of security cameras and a ghost town vibe. There's no spirituality or meditation there, or any real local culture You only really have to worry about female safety in India though, but even then incidents are preventable if you stay in the containment states

Unless you start your own business, have passive income or remote work its really not feasible to live long term in these places.

>>2907150Sounds like you'd love a train trip to Gua Musang. Eastern peninsular Malaysia is very tranquil, low population and low tourist density. There are many temples. People are friendly toward whites as a general rule, though less servile than Thailand. It's multicultural and English speaking, so you won't feel as much of a cultural barrier. Only the usual self-absorbed people uninterested in interacting with strangers. If you struggle to enjoy life in tehe EU in summertime, however, you will also struggle with the downsides of living in a hot humid developing region once the novelty of it wears off. And no, don't count on finding a job in those weird little outlying places. You're there to spend money.
