Hey guys I'm moving to Paris with a suitcase and nothing else. I don't have a job (gonna look after moving) nor do I have any family around. Any advice for getting settled in, finding a place to stay (I'm thinking of browsing la carte des colocs to find something) and any fun stuff to do when I arrive? I've been there as a tourist a couple times over the years but never lived in France long term.

Book related was one of my favourite reads this year, I think anyone who has moved cities, lived on a shoestring budget, and worked in hospitality will enjoy it as well. All very relatable, all very soul crushing and dread inducing. It actually made me want to move to Paris despite the horror shows the author describes as a poorfag in Paris

If you're a young in your 20s type guy looking for some adventurism, this usually works out fine.
I moved to Byron Bay in Australia with zero contacts and zero job lined up, managed to get myself hired as a sous chef within 2 weeks and find a house to share with some guys my age. It's really funny if you get lucky with the people you meet, I definitely miss it.

I have a friend who moved to Paris and got a job as an IT at some EU institution
says 60% of his income is eaten by rent and he is trapped until the contract expires
