Ever been impressed with how disappointing something is in real life? And I don't mean the obvious tourist traps like Plymouth Rock where it's pretty clear there's nothing to see. I mean ones that can look cool in a decent picture.

I'd seen the Supertrees hyped up online for years. People saying only Singapore could do this and the whole world is behind back when these things were first presented. Though they must be pretty impressive.

Turns out it just feels like a cheap amusement park attraction within a fairly mid park. It's tacky pink and neon green plastic piping with vines that only go up partway.

>heavily edited and documented resort or tourist trap turns out to be tourist trap
lol

I can see how this would be impressive in 1992 or something.

These trees in Singapore are a lot more interesting and magical at night time.

In the day time they are meh.

Best part about Singapore is the hot Korean k-pop star looking girls for 100$ in Geylang.
I also enjoyed some of the street food.

>magical at night time.
It's magical if you come from a small village in the jungle.

I’m from Canada, so close enough.

Looks like a work in progress, they clearly seem to be growing stuff on them and it hasn't reached the top yet, might be years until that happens.

I feel greatly attacked with this post.

Literally nowhere is capable of living up to hype because it has to exist in real life. A curated tourist picture or video online is only a simulacrum of the actual place.

The closest to living up to expectations a place can be is if it's supposed to be really big and it is, in fact, really big. A landmark being really large as its selling poing is as close to a 1:1 relationship between fantasy and reality it can get.

Wrong. Paris and Rome live up to the hype.
Paris mostly because it gets hate.
>>
>>2908426
Rome is a few cool ruins and like 2 genuinely impressive buildings connected by an incredibly shitty city almost like they tried to cram a 2000 year old street layout inside a modern city

>Rome is a few cool ruins
Yeah, and the Grand Canyon is just a hole.
We'll leave it there, you outed yourself as a retard.

The pandas at the Tokyo zoo. Wait in line for hours. Herded past them in fifteen seconds. They are just sitting there.

Behavior of the Japanese women was more interesting

Did you expect them to play piano?

There's only so many piles of limestone left around because Cicero took a shit behind it that one can care about.

Sorry you're retarded

the nighttime canopy walk at gardens by the bay is kind of cool. but yeah, other than that, not that impressive. but anyone who goes to SIN to look at trees deserves to be disappointed.

yeah uruguay is fkn shit but i wouldnt say it's a hyped-up tourist destination. montevideo was the most souless, grim place ever. no point going there when buenos aires is a 30 min buquebus away.

i've mentioned this before on this basement dweller forum, but the basilica cistern, where people line up around the block before opening time, is a 10 min in-n-out. I paid $70aud for it a few months ago, and im still seething.
