Not to eat on the plane, but in case of long layover, late arrival, flight cancellation, airport ATM failure, etc. Bringing a big bag of snacks like pecans and oatmeal cookie crumbles when arriving in India allowed my digestive system to gradually acclimate to Indian food. None of the airport ATMs worked either because some IT jeet incorrectly configured their software. I finally got cash at a bank but couldn't find any shop selling water at 2:30 AM. So I was glad for the food and water I had brought with me on the plane. (The bottle was refilled at a filturd water dispenser inside BOM airport, but still, better than the ridiculous 6 oz water bottles they give you on the plane to cut down on lavatory usage.
