It's just big and boring. Malacca and Penang are cooler in Malaysia. It's like Singapore but dirtier and less fun shit to do. It's just so fucking meh. No big city in continental SEA is as bland. I mean it doesn't suck it's just boring.

Who other than the Malaysian tourist agency that seems to post here about it actually told you it was anything but meh? It's best use it literally for spacing out Visa times in other countries for dirt cheap, no questions asked, and focus on your remote job or the gym place with little to no distractions. The best thing to do is pick some place in Georgetown for like 75 days, and maybe buffer a few days right after landing and before take off around KILA for some cheap ass shopping. That weird downtime of things from late Jan to Mid march, ML is perfect to just beach mode in Georgetown without spending more than like 500/mo for a decent place.
