Does anyone here do Tick box travelling? I want to know how it goes but I don't know anyone who does it. I could never travel in that style and wondering how you even make it enjoyable
>>
>>2913420
how do you even live being this autistic
some people like to do different things from you. just accept it
life is short and travel is cheap, might as well do as much of it as you want
>>
>>2913421
I didn't mean to offend you madam, just explain why you do it. I wasn't advising against it just want you to sell it to me
>>
>>2913422
Why do some people hunt Steam achievements when it’s different from “enjoying” the game? Because it IS still a valid way to play, and that’s how they play it.

Autists always ask questions like this
>I don’t understand the appeal behind X, what is it?
>okay I don’t get it, (continues arguing against its appeal)
Because they assume they’re missing something that normies are not, i.e they have a skewed sense of what is “normal” or “should be” liked vs not. To be fair your first response is somewhat normal, though I don’t see why you need to be sold on something you already instinctively know isn’t for you
>>
>>2913420
>country country region region
dumb bitch
>>
>>2913543
Talking about her?>>2913421
>>
>>2913420
i read that as tiktok travelling.
>>
>>2913420
Tbf turkmenistan is genuinely impressive
>>
>>2913581
Maybe, I've never been in tick tock though

>>2913582
Course its a good choice. Better than the usual Dubai etc. I'm not criticising her taste. Although I bet she just chose an obscure place for points and didn't even appreciate what makes it great. No holiday destination is "impressive" it's going online and clicking a flight. I guess that's the reaction she hopes for from everyone so it's worked I guess. Noice
>>
>>2913593
>Although I bet she just chose an obscure place for points and didn't even appreciate what makes it great
the illusion of asymmetric insight is common amongst people who are highly autistic
>>
>>2913600
I said I bet. I could be wrong, but judging by the way you guys openly express the desire to see as many places as you can in the shortest period of time I'm probably right
>>
>>2913602
>you guys openly express the desire to see as many places as you can in the shortest period of time
are you aware this is a travel board?
>>
>>2913602
Its a boring shithole
>>
>>2913603
I'm on /ck/ love food, but I'm not stuffing my face every any anything for the sake of it. Not going to eat out twice a week just so I can say I do. I don't need to visit every place on Anthony Bordain's list if they aren't all places I'm dying to try. I'll eat nearly anything and like weird things but I'm not going to eat a scorpion soaked in vodka just so I can take a photo to show how adventurous I am because ir doesn't appeal to me. I don't care about trendy places or food either
>>
>>2913607
If you thought it was boring she definitely did haha
>>
>>2913621
um ok good for you i suppose? it's a bit of a ridiculous comparison
>>
>>2913626
You don't like comparisons that prove a point that goes against yours, who does? It's valid though. Travel is a special thing, you savour it, you take time to unwind from it, think back on it. And when you get the urge you do it again. Tell me how your experience is? Since you don't every month I know for a fact it can't be anything like that. I'd be drained and it would feel rushed
>>
>>2913638
>I'd be drained and it would feel rushed
not everyone is like you anon. i know you find that difficult to understand. do you also avoid eye contact with people who are just trying to communicate with you?
>>
>>2913640
I'm very empathetic so I definitely don't have it, thanks for the diagnosis list, you can never be too sure about anything. Not sure what you have against autists though, must be something deep rooted. Weird.

There will definitely be some people who never get over stimulated and could even keep up with having 20 wives and everything that comes with it. There are all types of unique people in this world. But are all these women them? Are you one? You still haven't described what a holiday a month looks like. I'm open minded and genuinely curious. Maybe you'll sell it to me
>>
It's also worrying that you can't get that examples aren't like for like scenarios. You get given a completely different subject matter that will understand and that helps you with another.
It's about mental stimulation. Fine dining is amazing but doing it twice a week wouldn't be appealing to me for the same reasons mentioned about traveling. I hope for your sake you're pretending to not understand the comparison.
>>
>>2913643
>You still haven't described what a holiday a month looks like
if you do a normal job you probably already have four holidays a month or thereabouts. they are called weekends. some people like to use that time to do interesting things.
travel is easy and cheap. for most people who do reasonably well paid jobs travel is well within their means. not every trip a person takes has to be a life changing adventure. if you live in europe or asia there are dozens of countries within e.g. a four hour flight. i have personally done the "three meals in three countries in one day" thing. it was fun and not remotely challenging. obviously doing something like that doesn't make you a seasoned traveller in the other countries you visit but the picture in the OP doesn't claim that either.
now don't forget your adderall or whatever prescription meds you gulp down every day
>>
>>2913650
>well paid jobs travel is well within their means

What the hell does that have to do with anything? You just contradicted yourself and said it doesn't have to be a life changing trip, it can just be a small local one.
You're just making things up to attack, imagining me having a mental disorder to make fun of. Imagining me to be poor to feel superior.
God you're bitter haha.

At least you managed to explain a few things like an adult this time. So the aim of to cram holidays into a weekend you spend a day in the airport plus travel time getting to hotel etc usually and then you have to set time aside to return too, so I don't know how you're having an enjoyable holiday in two days. I could maybe try this a couple of times (I've taken Friday off to do a three day trip) but every month? No bueno for me but it's good if it gives you a sense of achievement, maybe it's doing you some good
>>
>>2913657
yeah i agree. short travel isnt at all worth it. you get nothing out of it. you get off the bus, sleep in some random bed, then get on the bus to the next random bed and repeat until you go home. travel opens up and becomes interesting when you take advantage of your 90days and have multiple meetings with people. you need to leave yourself room to have meaningful interactions instead of bolting off immediately after saying hello
>>
>>2913664
Right, you ease into it, get to know the layout of the streets, get comfy, and that's two days already. Meet people etc like you said is a really nice part of traveling too.
Are you anon? No smug anon has never humbly turned around like that in a thread. I'll be very surprised

sweet baby christmas anon you're just determined to be as awkward as possible aren't you
>So the aim of to cram holidays into a weekend you spend a day in the airport plus travel time getting to hotel etc usually and then you have to set time aside to return too
nobody has to spend a "day in the airport". if you're just doing a short trip you don't even have to check in any bags. most places have decent transport links to major airports.
you are just trying to make an argument for the sake of it. i guess it's par for the course for this fucking website. a good reminder that i share this place with literal children
>>
>>2913667

>>
>>2913669
Oh here's the antagoniser, I knew it was too good to be true.
Read calmly, don't jump to make a rebuttal like a maniac. I said time in the airport (you should get there 2 hours before) ALONG with travel to the airport, travel time, getting out of the airport and finding a way to your hotel, getting a bloody breather. You don't have a day when you get there. And that's if you're lucky, for someone who travel as much as you do you're not really clued up. A lot of flights aren't conveniently at a good time in the morning that allows you to spend the day traveling at get to a destination right in time to dive seamlessly into your evening out
>>
>>2913674
Ok good for you, must be horrible being them

>30 counties before you're 30, comment on my Instagram if that's you! :D painting nails emoticon

(I think that's how it goes haha, I don't have Instagram to know for sure)
>>
>>2913497
Wow you're dumb, games are a real challenge, I'm not a gamer but I get it. Literally achievements in their eyes.

Like I said Traveling isn't a challenge, couldn't be further from it, it's a privilege. It's a few clicks on a website and you're off. Tell us what challenged you on the 3 meals 3 counties thing? If I'm wrong just explain
>>
>>2913674
I'm with you brother, I don't want to fall out with you. But how do you not bring a suitcase on a long holiday? You need those undies man, you need a thousand t-shirts because you're changing them more than once a day in 35C heat in a lot of places, you need that electric shaver man, and toiletries, couple of trousers for when you drip that crazy thousand ingredients jungleman sauces on yourself.

I remember being in china and splashed my light blue jeans a bit with eating noodles. I was so mad thinking I'd have to walk around looking like someone with bad hygiene. Luckily the owner brought me some washing up liquid and I managed to get it out. Phew.
That just came into my head. Sorry
>>
>>2913688
you only need like 4 underwears, 4 shirts, 2 pants, an insulating layer and a hard shell and you are ready for everything from 0-100 degrees F. throw away clothes more often and buy them more often. i only buy the cheapest shit available, no one cares. body is everything

i dont need an electric shaver. for toiletries just bring a small pack of wet wipes just in case. i've been traveling for over a year continuously and i have two bags: a personal item and a carryon. my personal item has all my valuables like passport, laptop, headphones etc and my carryon is a junk bag filled with clothes and cables and disposable shit i dont really care about. personal item weighs in around 4kg and always stays on me, carryon just under 7kg and can be left behind without worry

Just to keep this attempt to make this a legitimate civilized thread. I will say it's good to travel extensively and I'd like to see a lot more countries.
One thing I still haven't done and would like to is go somewhere I can have real wildlife experiences. Up close and personal. Now that will be an experience
>>
>>2913693
>like 4 underwears, 4 shirts, 2 pants

You think I'm doing laundry while I'm away lad!?
When you say the cheapest stuff do you mean abroad or in life in general?

You're traveling right now?
>>
>>2913678
Not him but once you've travelled a bit you don't really suffer through half the things that you claim. Say I have a long train journey to/ from the airport. Nice, I can crack open a book or play an RPG on my handheld, or just listen to music. Its not like you get on a plane or train looking like squidward with bloodshot eyes being miserable the whole time.

One point not mentioned so far is the cost of domestic travel vs international. As travel throughout my country is absurdly expensive it works out barely more expensive to go abroad. And when you're already kitted out there's little effort. Sure taking a weekend trip from Europe to the Americas would be absurd as would basically any point past the 3hr mark. But within that range its fine. There's plenty of early-morning flights from 05:30 onwards and they come with affordable rates (sub-20 Euro).

It seems like you aren't accepting that people have their own yardstick for everything and that applies to how convenient travel is. Some may find travelling on weekends insufferable fine. Some may find that its enjoyable, fine. I'm assuming that you are trolling in your later responses to cover up your poor initial argument.
>>
>>2913678
>I said time in the airport (you should get there 2 hours before) ALONG with travel to the airport
no, you literally said "you spend a day in the airport". you don't even need to get there two hours before on short haul flights.
the rest of your little whine sounds basically like a skill issue
>>2913685
>Tell us what challenged you on the 3 meals 3 counties thing? If I'm wrong just explain
presumably you meant to address that to me. i said "countries" not "counties". i literally said it wasn't challenging. why would it be? you can literally do it with a short walk in some places, or a couple of short hop flights. the thread is about short trips. it was a comment about a short trip. sweet jesus how do some of you get through the day?

Yes I did say spend the day in the airport, and... and... There were a of ands. You do need to get there 2 hours before, you don't live in my country. They literally tell you in the airport to allow 3 for hours.

Counties was a typo, I know what you did. You were literally comparing it to a gaming challenge, so I told you it's not a challenge. I'm glad you've acknowledged this because I wouldn't be up for arguing yet another boring point. So we can agree gaming achievements aren't comparable to traveling as traveling isn't a challenge.

Anything else, Influencer girl? I'm praying you're female, or at the very least a small, skinny jean wearing , still unsure of himself 18 year old boy
>>
>>2913702
Ok big boy traveller, I can't possibly have travelled as much as you. When did I say the process was unbearable, I enjoy it. I literally said it's a privilege. Why is evening on this site a contrarian? I bet you don't even have a reason to fight me on this, do you even travel every month? You could've just enjoyed the thread and replied to my comment above about wildlife, but you've got to prove yourself in some non existent competition of words.
If anything the more you travel the more things that didn't annoy you become unbearable. Then it was my first time travelling you couldn't inconvenience me, I'd still be smiling away. Now the fact that a lot of destinations don't go from my local airport (Heathrow) which is 20 minutes away, but fly out of the others that are an hour and a half away drives me mad, and the small amount of space for my backpack to lay between my legs leaving me cramped up even more drives me mad too. Maybe you need to travel more.

But this isn't even about travelling being tough any so this is just redundant. It's about travelling regularly taking away from the experience. And I already acknowledged people aren't all the same. If you're someone who can't get burned out you are a winner! Keep up the good work. Must be fun. Been over this at the beginning of the thread.
>>

good grief, you actually live quite close to my place in the uk. i bet if i opened the window i could hear you wailing. lhr is one of the biggest airports in the world. people talk shit about it but it is incredibly well connected and really all of the things that "drive you mad" are just a lack of ability, preparation etc on your part. chances are that you would just be mad at some other random thing anyway
gosh you just sound like an angry little boy. why don't you roll around and beat your fists on the ground or something, it might make you feel better

Nah, it's fine if you don't live too far from the airport. Leave after work, arrive at the hotel between 10pm-2am. Build your trip around an event rather than the destination (Venice Carnival, Salzburg Krampuslaufe, Palio di Siena, aurora gazing in Tromso, Provins Medieval Festival, etc). Spend Saturday and most of Sunday enjoying whatever you came to see. Back home by late-Sun/early-Mon. Easy.
>>
>>2913792
you can do overnight buses/trains. you basically teleport and skip the hotel if you can sleep in those conditions. most of them are designed to depart around 7pm, lights off at around 10pm. you wake up to the natural light instead of in a hostel dorm to some nigger's alarm clock. no one talks or makes noise at night. there's curtains all around you. kinda nice

you rot more moving. you dont sleep well, you don't eat well, you can't grow or think well under those conditions. you end up with the consciousness of a bugbox wagey, your brain and body effectively operating at 50% capacity because you are chronically malnourished and sleep deprived. you don't know what peak performance feels like so you have nothing to compare it to. even when you sit still you probably doomscroll all day and eat like shit, barely sleep etc

Why are you knocking experiences off? Do you knock off spending time with your parents? Do you knock off having a nice day out and evening dinner? Do you knock off making friends?

There’s like 200+ countries. If your goal is to visit every single one you have to be expeditious about it unless you are retired or a neet. I got a job and kids I can only take one trip per year
>>
>>2915423
I also want to visit every country, but my big fear is that I’m going to visit all the nice ones and there’s going to come a point where I’m going to have to take trips to nothing but shitholes full of turd worlders for the rest of my life if I’m to accomplish my goal.

Can confirm your worries are correct. Theres only 50-60 ok ones. Only 5-10 good ones. Then endless shitholery

You didn't beat the game

This is a syndrome. You may want to try every chocolate in a box of 100 but you'd stop way short of that and just enjoy the ones you eat, savering and sucking them, wiggling your tounge around on them. Knowing you could try them all but at a compromise of enjoyment.
There's no way you're genuinely dying to see every country, I can die not going to Macedonia, now I've been to Kosovo. A lot of countries are pretty much duplicates in every way but with less to offer. Also some countries just aren't worth it because full stop. Obviously I'd see these places if the chance just popped up. Someone could see half of the countries than you've seen (if you go to them all) and have way more of a fulfilling life. It's just a game, and not even a rewarding one at that. You just want to see them because you think it's an achievement. I hope you're young, because if there isn't a chance you'll grow out of this...

Sounds like somebody’s salty they’re not even on the board, not to mention on the high scores

Picrel yesterday's meal, richer and tastier than anything I could've prepared myself on short notice.
Some people need the comfort of home, that's why even when they travel overseas they only want to plop down in a monthly rental. I don't, never have. Home has always felt like a comfortable prison. Every day the same old surroundings. You are free to leave, yes, but if you're always gonna be leaving, just bring your shit with you and forget about going back.
>you rot more moving
Moving on a daily basis (with or without luggage) forces you to engage with your surroundings, figure out how to get places, and explore natural areas if they are accessible. All the same I am not one for the 9 AM to 9 PM tourist rat race of must-see sights to check off.
That's why I enjoy meandering through sleepy, barely touristed rural places with the occasional episode of big moves across the world map. A few times a year it is fun to walk the streets of the UAE knowing this morning you woke up in Malaysia and tomorrow you're going to sleep in Poland, that kind of thing. Such drastic changes in culture, climate, architecture, etc. But it's also enjoyable to take it easy and be free from the rat race. Riding a bus a short distance every day is fun, it's not tiresome like traveling across an entire country because an AI chatbot says you have to visit Bangkok and Chiang Mai, and then go down to Phuket afterwards.

I'm a savings burner. Haven't worked in the past eleven months. Still got plenty of travel funds for the next seven months. Then it will be time to replenish.

Kek what? Wah? I've been to every single one of my dream destinations since a few years ago, and I've been elsewhere too. And I'm literally on holiday right now kek. You really do suck don't you?
>>
>>2915454
Right, so you don't travel that frequently but would like to, and just felt the need to defend people you aspire to be like. Glad we cleared that up, we can end the debate now

Can win with logic so report to the good old classic 4chan ad hominem. But messed that up choosing one that can be beaten with proof. Sad sad boys

What’s your number then? 195 countries total? How many have you been to?
>>
>>2915469
I don't even count them, (it must be quite a lot though) it's not a competition. If I felt like it id go to the same country every year for a few years running if it captures me that much, one of my trips this year was actual a repeat for the first time so I missed out on a precious cross on the tally, oh noo I'm down one, I better travel to an extra country next year to recuperate. Way less that 195 though, not even close. Is this your second attempt at a got ya, since is rekt ya? You're not doing a good job haha. What are you doing at this very moment? Be honest like Ive bee. I bet you wish you were me
>>
>>2915472
Not really. You sound annoying. How can you not even know how many countries you’ve been to? This year, so far the I’ve only been to 2: America and French Polynesia
