Going to Japan in a month and desperately need feedback on my itinerary. Trying not to cram too much in but worried I ended up with a boring agenda. Any recommendations welcome, especially regarding Showa era design, working class history/culture, public transit, or CLAMP.

Day 1: Shinjuku - land in afternoon, hotel, neon lights, ramen dinner
Day 2: Harajuku and Shibuya - Takeshita Street, KiddyLand toy store, 3pm lunch reservation at anime cafe, Tower Records, scramble crossing
Day 3: Hakone - tourist loop and ryokan
Day 4: Kyoto - Railway museum and area around station
Day 5: Osaka - Shinsekai and Dotonbori - buy a sukajan, eat takoyaki, play retro arcade games, return to Kyoto at night
Day 6: Gion and Higashiyama - walking tour, ??
Day 7: Philosopher's Path - kissaten omurice and melon soda for lunch, sento in the evening
Day 8: Fushimi Inari, Uji for lunch, matcha, and Tale of Genji museum
Day 9: Shinkansen to Tokyo, walking tour of Asakusa, 6pm reservation at Dawn robot cafe
Day 10: Yanasen and Ueno - cats, museums, shrines
Day 11: Mt. Takao for early morning hike, hotel rest and recovery afternoon, Akihabara after dark
Alternate plan: if not in the mood for hiking - Tokyo Metro Museum
Day 12: Sugamo and Otsuka - neighborhood exploring, eat shio daifuku and isoage, buy red underwear, ride toden streetcar, maybe see a movie this day
Day 13: Kamakura and Enoshima
Day 14: last minute souvenir shopping, flight home 6 pm

Have fun in Japan, two weeks PTO tard. Didn't read.
>>
Wow you really planned that out. Im spending 3 months here currently and have no plan at all
>>
>>2915024
>3 months
>no plan at all
what are you doing then? surely there is some skeleton of a plan if youve committed to 3 months
>>
>>2915024
Same and same. Based.
>>2915030
Ain't gotta 'splain shit. Makin gains.
>>
>>2915024
Well. 3 months does allow more freedom to not plan anything
>>

Its my 3rd trip and I've been from Nara to Sapporo. This time just making a counterclockwise circle starting from Tokyo just book a few nights in a city with reasonable hotel rates and see whats there. It makes sense you would plan since you dont want to waste time figuring it out on the fly.

I would definitely book hotels in advance though prices here are wacky and you can get totally raped on Friday Saturday night.

One thought I see you have then philosophers path. Its not a bad activity but really no need to do that except at cherry blossom time you have all the shrines with beautiful nature and gardens in Gion. One thing i really enjoyed in that area, I stayed at APA, is going for an early morning walk towards pontocho alley as all the bars were closing maybe around 7am, it was nice having it all to myself except for a few scattered groups of totally wasted japs

What's with people traveling to Japan making day to day itineraries that go as far as planning out lunch? I never see travelers to any other country do this unless they're reserving some high end meal. I never see people post full ass itineraries for other countries either. But it seems everyone going to Japan needs everything meticulously planned even though it's just hitting common stops every single other person goes to.
>>
>>2915058
I assure you every tourist destination has itineraries made for it.
As for lunch, these are meant more as notes of things I don’t want to forget to try or specific meals restaurants that I already have reservations for. If a neighborhood has a local speciality I’d like to make an effort to taste it—such as the shio daifuku in Sugamo.

It's NPC wagey cope for their lack of time. They feel like if they treat it like work and plan every second they can try to squeeze the most time out of it as possible, and they saw some content creator retard on tiktok or youtube do it that way.
>>
>>2915006
shittt im buying my plane tickets tonight that flies in a couple weeks
nothing planned no hotels booked. can I tag along with you op
>>

People make vague itineraries. They don't plan morning to night for two weeks. Visitors to other countries also don't post their full meticulous plans. It's a weird thing that only Japan travel gets.

When going to absolutely anywhere else, people will plan, for example, 7 days in New York City. They'll plan some museums to hit up, but they don't think
> day 5: for 11 AM brunch, eat a slice of pizza at internationally famous Sbarro's near Chinatown. Check out a vegetable shop in Chinatown
They've got a whole week there. Just go to Chinatown when you feel like it instead of planning a specific day and time slot.

For your itinerary, planning a specific day and time for Ueno is unusual. Why day 10 in particular? Why not just go there on a random day?

It's literally just a 20 minute ride from Shinjuku. It doesn't need a specific day plotted out for it.

Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll keep it in mind. Are the bars in Japan really open that late?

>>2915107
I guess. When prepping for my trips to London, Copenhagen, and Germany I saw plenty of suggested itineraries including specific sights to see and foods to try. If that’s not your style of travel fine but I don’t think it’s unique to tourists of Japan. The order is negotiable, it’s more about creating a daily plan that makes sense. If I feel like visiting Ueno on day 1 and Kamakura on day 10 nothing is stopping me from switching it around. But also it’s helpful to know before I get there which areas are near each other and make sense to visit on the same day, rather than criss-crossing randomly across Tokyo my entire trip.
>>
>>2915058
It's a weird minmax optimizer thing and you can see countless examples on /r/JapanTravel and /r/TokyoTravel. It's like they think you're NGMI if you haven't got a per-minute itinerary of time allocated to TeamLab Famichiki Tamago Sando Gokart Disney Ichiran and 50 other locusted touristslops.

Fortunately im blocked from reading any of that.

Op, are you all trained up and able to walk 10 miles per day?

It’s incredible how every single post on that community is people writing insanely detailed novels worth of planning for a 1 week trip. What’s even more insane is how other people actually care about people writing shit like
>June 13, 2029, 8:47 AM: Get in line in the west Shinjuku Ichiran Ramen Shop (shop #41, not shop number #73) and order one set with slightly firm noodles
And will bother to offer feedback like
>actually, the 8:40 AM block tends to have noodles being more than slightly firm and into fairly firm territory. In my experience, the 8:20 block at the East Shinjuku shop #12 has better noodles. But make sure to wait in line starting at 6:40 at the latest to make sure you get in!
I’m only slightly exaggerating the type of shit they post.

>>2915156
Literally this. Travel plans turned into gamefaqs walkthroughs.
>>

Japan attracts autismos like flies to shit. I used to love traveling around the world, but after visiting Tokyo 9 years ago I have not gone anywhere else. I go back to Tokyo 2-3 months every year and I create a detailed plan for every single day beforehand, from where I eat lunch to where I eat dinner. Because I am slightly autistic and I enjoy it that way
>>
>>2915165
I was there 9 or 10 years ago too. You really think it's still worth going back?
>>
>>2915156
It's all dickwaving. No one is actually interested in any feedback or suggestions.
>I'm so Japanese I know sooooo much about Japan did you know that if you take exit 69 from Shibuya station it will take you to this ultra secret ramen spot that only allows 1 gaijin (foreigner in case you didn't know) every 13th of the month (but only if that 13th is on a Tuesday), also they don't take bills, only coins, so bring a lot of coins. I suggest you plan 23 years in advance if you want to visit this shop.
But here's the real kicker: These are all larping weebs with no real means of going to Japan. Probably don't even have a passport. The "I'm 13 years old and I've always wanted to go to Japan, any tips?" LARPers evolved with the help of AI making their dream itineraries.
>>
>>2915156
ok yeah agreed the minute by minute itineraries people post are retarded and unrealistic. If you’ve already planned every minute of your trip what could you possibly be seeking feedback on?
>>
>>2915167
It has definitely been going downhill over the years, but so have western countries, so compared to back home it's still paradise on earth
>>
>>2915167
Tokyo is the only part of Japan that has the raw numbers to absorb the wave of foreigners without it being too different. If you notice, all of the tiktokers and redditors like OP like to go to niche cities as much as they go to Tokyo, to try to find a "hidden gem".

You add one million foreign tourists to the 45 million japs in Tokyo and it's a drop in the bucket. If you put one million tourists in Fukuoka it substantially changes the fabric of everyday living. The societal decline of Tokyo is more to do with rising cost of living, increasingly unfavorable exchange rate, bad economy, bad work/life balance etc than it is with overtourism.
>>
>>2915169
>>2915168
So you spend half your life reading dumbshit on redddit and the other half seething about it and you think they are the weirdos and you are so much superior? Lmao

There's a Cardcaptor Sakura collab at Shibuya Tsutaya, but unfortunately it ends on the 29th:
https://shibuyatsutaya.tsite.jp/article/2696.html

Not sure if this will interest you, but there's going to be a pop up shop for Magic Knight Rayearth in Ikebukuro starting from Oct 28:
https://collabo-cafe.com/en/events/collabo/rayearth-ikebukuro-sukima-store-2026/

If you're looking for gashapon stuff, you can try looking around on sites like these that tell you what's currently on sale and where it may be available:
https://bandainamco-am.co.jp/en/others/capsule-toy-store/item/item_details.html?product_code=4582770027167

I think there's another site or 2 that list their items like this, but can't find them at the moment.

Can someone translate this post from weeb to normgroid?
>>
>>2915124
>>2915152
It's probably a Japan autism thing because you see he same discussion and complaints about japanese language learners vs every other language.
Japan just attracts or brings out the autist in people
>>
>>2915165
I visit Japan a bit but the people who move there permanently are always so fucking weird, its sperg central, weebs are insufferable
They might be able to hide it for a few minutes but then it all comes out and its just full retard shit
>>
>>2915237
consoom dis anime shit and toys niqqa
>>
>>2915058
For autists, planning and researching is part of the adventure. They love it. And obviously Japan is mecca for autists
>>
>>2915237
>>2915290
Pretty much. OP wanted recommendation for CLAMP stuff, and that's exactly what >>2915232
is
