Anyone have experience working as a flight attendant? Thinking about quitting my current job and becoming one. I hear that the pay can be garbage on the first year and you'll be away from friends and family, obviously. However it seems like a good way to travel the world for relatively cheap.

Had a fling with one

Sure when you actually get on the proper routes to do it, or you could be stuck doing DFW base to Lawton, Lubbock, Amarillo, OKC for a few years. Not a lot of fun. It's a gamble and takes years to get on good routes IIRC.

The girl I was with basically never wanted to do much when they got to their destinations, maybe once every so often they had a 2-4 days "off" somewhere even worthwhile. That's after working sometimes a stupid long shift. The entire shit sounded dumb and gay because the pay and lack of job security during an economic downturn made things a nightmare. Not only that but the discounted rate hotels she would mention was always at the airport adjacent meaning you'd spend a good amount of time simply trying to GTFO of it. All her stories sounded horrible because a fair portion of her time at X place was on call or studying for some new FAA thing.

Or just get a good contract/seasonal job that pays well like CDL live in the midwest, work busy seasons, fuck off for a few months rinse and repeat. Same could be said for IT contract work.

What airline did she work for? I'm looking at Delta and they only have bases in major cities. They only have six on call days a month as well.

Thought about becoming wildland firefighter for contract work if I ever did it. Unless something has changed in recent years, or are different in the midwest, CDL contract jobs weren't that great.

American/American partners, was out of PHX so a fair bit of options in terms of places to go. I asked a bit about it and dropped it they left too because it was just constant work, everything she did was like pics of (place) from 1 day she had off and then back again. Like if that's all you want is to say you were on your feet for 10 hours for a day or so of "being in place" go for it.

LMFAO what even you're talking about wanting to make money. You know CDL people, at least in the USA, can net like avg 5-6k after taxes a month right? Sometimes more if you do crunch seasonal work.

You could easily do 6-8 on that, then 4-6 months off in Asia unless you're just trying to book some retard places. CDL is probably the most forgiving when it comes to any kinds of gaps because the industry is known for on demand labor.

How long ago did she work at American? From what little research I've done it doesn't seem like it's a popular employer.

Good luck getting that work of you don't have 10+ years. CDL jobs have been taken over by illegals and foreigners too. Those 5-6k a month jobs after taxes are the exception, not the rule. While wildland averages around 40k for half a year that's at least the average.

It takes a long time before you can work good routes. It’s extremely seniority based.

This was a bit before covid, no clue what it's like now.
>Good luck getting that work of you don't have 10+ years
lol even basic Amazon CDL truckers make something like 70k/yr, you could grind a year then take a year off.
Anon CDL is one of the most in demand fields lmao
>MUH HEKKIN FOREIGNERS!!!1
okay yeah nvm you'll never make it

This you don't even need to know anything more than a basic search online for that info. One thing I do remember is that she needed some certification test to prove she could speak the basics for international flights. Not sure if a rule still but I can see it. OP if something season like CDL is too much because muh foreigners, you NGMI even retards on that Caleb Hammer show brag about just making 7k/mo driving the max hours for a few months

>one of the most profitable companies in the world does it so that's the norm

So do all airlines. You still work shithole routes your first 5+ years, and the pay sucks.
