There absolutely are neat places there. Kyrgyzstan has some of the most beautiful nature around, the empty mountains and steppes. Uzbekistan for the history and food. Kazakhstan if you want something more modern. Turkmenistan if you like weird DPRK like stuff. Tajikistan... eh, I'm not sure what's there.
