So playing through Calamity Angels, it really feels like generic iF/Compile Heart slop, though somewhat more fun and unique. I can't really see much yuri here, even on a subtextual level. I thought it would be pretty much heteronormative... but then I got a delivery from an old artist talking about delivering a present to his HUSBAND?? So this game is willing to have gay representation after all. I'll keep an eye out for something /u/ relevant after all.

It's a "life sim", but it has a heavy combat focus and is full of eldritch horror stuff. The datable villagers are also all kinds of weird and punkish. Synopsis: "Neverway is a blend of horror, life sim, and action RPG. After Fiona quits her job, she starts over on a farm and becomes the immortal herald of a dead god. Keep your life from falling apart while searching for Neverway, a nightmare reality that is slowly leaking into yours."The fact that it's a defined female protag already elevates it above most farming sims for me. Having good action gameplay and a horror theme is just the cherry on top.
