The franchise is on sale on Steam atm. Which game should I buy? FF13 caught my eye because the MC is cute and doesn't seem trapped in a hetslop plot. But people say the story is lore heavy and hard to follow. I don't really care about lore and would like a character-driven story, preferably focusing on the girls.

Been looking into FFVI and how to mod it for rewrites. It's definitely doable. But playing through the game, it's just so het... Celes/Locke is annoyingly pushed, while Terra has like no interactions with anyone. So I'm surprised Terra/Celes is a ship at all. This will require basically a full rewrite, not just some tweaks like I had hoped.

They literally have one conversation as they head for the defense of Narshe against the empire forces.One good thing that exchange does is set up two things:1. Celes knew Terra from the imperial forces. She mentions that she seems different now.2. Terra asks her if she thinks she can love. Which in the context of her feeling disconnected from people is probably just her relating to Celes as a magic user being unlike everyone else. The first one sets up a backstory in which Celes realizes she overlooked Terra being brainwashed and mind controlled, which is a great way to add gult and the second one, even if unintentionally be the original writing, is the perfect set up for a romantic arc. I just have to nudge the "love" she talks about into a romantic direction over time.

Which eventually culminates in Locke admitting he has a complex about protecting Celes and Terra because of this and making peace with it. I think that's fine for her personal arc. You will need to get Edgar and Setzer too for the airship but the moment you get it you can go straight to Terra and recruit her back. I definitely would add a special interaction to the Terra recruitment, because Celes otherwise barely even reacts to getting her back, but beyond that I think it's fine to leave it up to the player.

I figure if you are gonna do a Celes/Terra mod - you make it so Celes defects sooner (Terra getting the Slave crown used on her as impetus) and never gets captured. Terra is literally the only other female that is around Celes age in that city with a name so you can easily justify them interacting far more and having some history than the base game had - there is no reason they shouldn't be close friends. Granted this is way more work than most people would do. So I had an idea of making it so you start in the WoR to begin with and re-tell edited bits of the game via flashback at various points. My thought was Celes doesn't leave the island via the raft - instead after trying to commit suicide the Shiva esper in her inventory fully merges with her - effectively giving her a Morph of sorts like Terra. She just flies over to land instead. Now instead of sticking fully to the airship storyline afterwards - it turns out the airship is busted and needs replacement parts still in order to fly. Queue Celes going back to recruit Terra and both flying around the world 'Alone Together' and occasionally working with local party members to explore various ruins to collect parts to eventually fix the airship. More room for romance this way since the rest of the cast is a sausage fest.

>>4573897Alright I have some more ideas. During the end credits, Celes will have a segment where she almost falls to her death because she was trying to pick up the bandana/cloth she lost. This is something Locke tied around a wounded bird, which gave her an indication he was alive, and thus she regained her will to live. That is kind of a stupid note to end on in a Celes/Terra love story though, so how about this: During the Narshe defense, Celes will take the Slave Crown from Terra, proof that Terra was used by the empire and changed. When she tries to kill herself on the island in World of Ruin, she gets swept ashore, but instead of Locke's bandana, she find the bird holding the slave crown in its beak to use it for its nest or something. She picks it up and then womans up, because whatever she is suffering through is not nearly as bad as what Terra experience since birth.Towards the end when she loses it and nearly falls, Terra is the one pulling her back up instead of Locke. Terra will tell her that she can let go of it and let it fall with the remains of Kefka's tower and it will symbolize them moving on from the pain together.
