The law says "3 € for every category of goods in a shipment" which should be only 3 € if you buy only books, but since Amazon keeps splitting orders they may have put a 3 € tax on every single item so they'll be covered even if they'll ship 19 packages with one item in each one like they did last year with one of my orders.
3 € for 26 books would explain the unreal total of the custom duties, but I'm never going to pay that.
Years ago Amazon let you choose between "shipping immediately what's ready" and "wait until everything is ready before of shipping" that would ensure a single shipment, but now they will just ship everything they want when they want resulting in a bunch of useless packages and increasing shipping costs. And now this legat theft of a new law.
Considering Amazon's shipment is not even cheap anymore, I may go back to cdJapan but finding stuff is a pain, books go out of stock immediately, and they completely dropped BDs.

Can't they normally axe it? Can't they increase the cost of the volume like they do in my country for series with poor sales instead of axing it? This is very unrespectful and they started using it as a common solution like there's no problem with it, not a single word for people buying the books.

By the way, no asnwer from Amazon about the absurd import charges. In the chat I had to use at 2 am when I had to wake up at 6 am to go to work, the operator didn't know either but they told me any overcharge will be refunded so I placed my order that was split in two packages and received them today.
I asked DHL for the list of custom duties but they won't give it to me because the payer is Amazon.

That's not too bad since having an upfront duty payment means the carrier isn't going to surprise you with some fucked up bill on delivery for way more. If you only buy small amounts like this it is way more cost effectie to keep eating the buyee fees. Also you can reduce the buyee plan fee to 0. You don't need it.

I live in the US and switched from buyee to fromjapan a few years back because buyee storage being 30 days is GAY and so was the (now removed) consolidation fee. Buyee recently changed the purchase fee to 500 yen too, which is the same as fromjapan.

Every weekend FJ has its 8% off YAJ/mercari orders deal (used to be 10% tho), so there's some decent savings, and you can order from most other sites manually with a URL. One thing that sucks is that there doesn't seem to be a way to have them order everything at once (i even asked), so if you order a bunch of different items from melonbooks, you're charged melons 600yen domestic shipping on each item which is ASS. Their customer support is also 50/50, sometimes they respond to me right away, others they'll say "we'll look into this and get back to you" then ghost me.

Haven't used buyee since the new shipping rules were enforced so not sure how it compares now, but fromjapan packs their stuff a LOT better. They wrap everything tight together and dont use giant ass boxes like buyee used to. FJ recently got DDP ECMS as well which is a life saver for shipping.
