I think we can safely consider AnoSoyo canon at this point, right?
>>4601814Of course.
Tenmaku no Jaadugar went surprisingly hard on the subtext on this final episode both for Boraqchin x Moge and Toregene x Fatimaplease tell me there will be a second season
>>4601814>>4601818Nope. And I'll never understand people defending this nothinburger, yet shitting on other subtextsIf AnonSoyo is canon, everything is: Revue, Nanoha, every other Bandori ship. Even hoyoshitSymphogear, as long as 2 girls are in the same show or game and don't love males, they're canon apparently

The same silly complaints that yuri series have with any level of yuri are almost nonexistent when it comes to het or yaoi. Age difference, incest, coherence, chemistry, canon, and even if one of them is already married or in a relationship, are all irrelevant to the fans.

Next episode seems to be a school festival episode, which I love, and i saw Urara there too. I love her petty rivalry with yasumi>grow up show episode 11Ouka and Mizuka go on a date, I like it. Not sure how they're going to tie up everything in one more episode, but I hope they manage to do it satisfyingly. I think both the competition and Maria's crisis being crammed into the last third of the series is a bit much tho. Wouldve preferred a more modest climax instead imo, with more of Mizuka bonding with her troupe members.
>>4601874I have an stick up my ass againt overrated shit I'm suppossed to like and act like masterpieces while everything else is shit in comparisonLike Madoka or in this case MyGO. Cringe is itselfr a buzzword and not a real argument and it was the MyGO cultist using it, so shut up about muh buzzwords and muh no real arguments, because the ones without real argument are the MyGO cultists>>4602054The Maria drama is what happens when staff tries to justify an adult loli design with plot instead of just going "we wanted an adult loli, fuck you"
Also, reminder all MyGO couples are made up by fans and the show itself is not even subtext. Perfect friendship show. Subtext only works with what MyGO tards dismiss as "caricature emotions". Their overrated "grounded realist" shit reduces subtext to nothing and the only yuri that works is actual maintext, real yuri. MyGO would need to be a real yuri show like KimiShinu is (and I'm not hearing another round of semantics autism), but Bushiroad will never cross the line, so MyGO is a nothingburger friendship shit I'll take "caricature for children" or whatever MyGO tards dismiss other shows as that actually at least have some yuri subtext over "muh grounded subtle realistic" whatever with no crumbs
>>4602068>Bushiroad will never cross the lineThey did in d4dj before so they could again
>>4602069I hear D4DJ is not them. Either way, when the only explicit Bandori couple happened with a break up in mind (Viola/Miyako), I'm not trusting Bushiroad with ever making Bandori yuri. Feels like trusting Hoyoshit to make yuri in their post HI3 games (Genshin, Star Rail, Zenless)

After what happened to ChikaRiko I'm glad that multishipping franchises don't try to go canon anymore, like even in D4DJ HayaKoko kinda lives in her own Arisugawa bubble after the NTR-lite shenanigans with the hags and it's better this way. AnonSoyo it's the better example from MyGo because the main ship was AnonTomo with Taki as a yaya but the fandom did what fandoms do and invented a entirely different ship that now can be shilled without feeling that we lost anything in the process.
>>4601865>>TakiUmi>canon.This is an attack on takitomo
>>4602147No, it's an attack on common sense. TakiUmi has the same level of mental retardation as the "popular" couples in the main Love Live line. It exists because the fans want it to, they justify it with their asses, and thank God this isn't Love Live, because future projects would go to shit just for trying to implement TakiUmi as something real.
>>4602147TakiUmi is much better. Tomori can date female rocks or something.
>>4602144>>After what happened to ChikaRiko I'm glad that multishipping franchises don't try to go canon anymore,Superstar exists, so no, these people have no decency and it was 3 seasons of doing things terribly and trying to please everyone in the worst possible way.>>multishipping franchisesThis is all bullshit and it's not even based on reality. They can say "multi" whatever the hell they want, but there's always obvious favoritism towards some pairings and absolute contempt for others that are so utterly ignored it's a miracle they exist. They might be there, but a fandom full of idiots with inflated egos will refuse to even mention them. HonoMaki has had events and these idiots don't mention them and try to downplay them or outright pretend they don't exist.
>>4602158It's not, the pairing simply sucks, you only put them together because of a lame dynamic that barely qualifies as friendship and an aesthetic that Otae and Layer do better.
>>4602162It's easy to ship TakiTomo because they were planned around that dynamic (aggressive but romantically shy girl x lovely autist) but they lack the same chemistry that UmiTaki have. They're both dorks trying to act all busisnesslike to hide their emotions but whenever they appear together there's just this tension in the air, especially considering what each represents on the grand scheme of things (loyalty + fear or fejection from Taki's side; understanding herself + fear of overcommitment from Umiri's). They're emotional polar opposites in their dilemmas and the fact that they're a MyGo x Mujica pair makes their dynamic even more appealing, considering the history of both bands and whatnot.Throughout the story, Taki is defined by her intense devotion to Tomori, a hyper-fixation that often makes her abrasive, short-tempered, and emotionally unavailable to others. Umiri is the singular exception to this rule. Umiri is the only person who can consistently ground Taki when she is spiraling. Whether Taki is stressed about lyrics, band drama, or her own insecurities, Umiri steps in as a calm, stabilizing force. This dynamic shifts Taki from a state of constant panic to one of rare vulnerability, a transformation she doesn't exhibit with anyone else. She's attached to Tomori as an ideal of perfect synergy and stability, but that's just an illusion she's seeking. It will never come true due to Tomori's gentler personality and their incompatibilities.Umiri works nonstop with several bands for the money. Yet, she constantly "wastes" her free time sitting in fast-food restaurants just to listen to Taki vent, showing that Taki is the only person she treats as a priority over her work. Umitaki's dynamic is built on deep mutual respect, shared vulnerability, and a unique emotional anchor that sets them apart from typical bandmate friendships.
>>4602166>they lack the same chemistry that UmiTaki haveThat's completely subjective sis. The only dynamic they have imo is "friends", not even best friends, or friends with romantic tension, just normal platonic friendship I binged mymuji tlearly this year and was genuinely kinda shocked to learn they were one of the most popular pairings
Whilst I obviously prefer canon, I am willing to accept subtext at times, but I will say that I'm not a fan of Bandori's flavour of subtext. Or rather, there appears to be a trend that the gayer a pairing in Bandori becomes, the more strange the writing around it starts to get. With most other subtext series, when it comes to the gayest pairs, the writers like to push the usual ambiguity, but then sometimes go slightly over the edge into unambiguous/explicit territory, and then leave things there for the fans to have fun with. With Bandori, however, whenever the writers go slightly over the edge into unambiguous/explicit territory like those other series do, instead of just leaving it alone like other writers do, it's like they become uncomfortable, and they decide to introduce some narrative mechanism that acts as a counterweight. This leads to the current situation where the gayest Bandori pairs (UiSaki/VioMiya) come with a massive asterisk next to them.
>>4602248>they decide to introduce some narrative mechanism that acts as a counterweightYou mean stuff like incest and mental disorders? I wouldn't call them a counterweight. It's just another flavor of drama. Purely vanilla romance tropes get stale after a while.
>>4602248I agree. But they do it for deniability not because they're uncomfortable. They want yuri fans to get it that yes Uisaki are a thing but when normies interview them they can go "pfft what are you on about obviously they're family lol". I bet they think they're geniuses.
>>4602166>Throughout the story, Taki is defined by her intense devotion to Tomori, a hyper-fixation that often makes her abrasive, short-tempered, and emotionally unavailable to others. can we stop applying het metrics to justify what is or isnβt yuri? Thereβs not enough yuri to match a bazillion het produced over decades , after which youβd practically stop ever doubting if a prospective yuri ship will ever come to fruition. i or no one else likes applying strict rules for judging what is or isnβt yuri but it is the reality that we have to. >>4602595Too soon. MahoAko and Watanare (anime) are like two and one years old so the industry didn't have the time to actually make a real yuri anime yet. Yumemita relied on VioMiya because the vtuber fad isn't as popular aymore, Grow Up Show only follows the overall trend to have some strong yuri subtext on SOL-like shows with all girl casts and Sayonara Lara (if the leaks are true) feels like a wannabe Cosmic Princess Kaguya that tried but failed to use yuri to their favour.

>>4602956 Itβs stranger than thatβthough, to be honest, it mostly involves just one woman whoβs into younger boys, and the boy looks like a girl (for no real reason other than personal preference). The most serious dynamic, however, is a tsundere girl his own age whoβs in love with him; the boy is a pervert, but mostly just in terms of what he says.Itβs one of those supernatural comediesβwith some serious moments here and thereβfeaturing plenty of big boobs (presented somewhat subtly), but what really matters to us are these two; frankly, itβs probably the most normal romance in the series.

Regarding Sayaka...I know that the novel describes Haru as being completely different from Yuu in appearance and mannerisms but It's hard to deny the similarities when looking at the official illustrations.Sayaka is the best girl but it feels like she's deceiving herself and Haru with a Yuu clone out of angst.

I was reminiscing about how I came to like yuri and a bunch of crazy memories resurfaced. One was that years ago I imagined two girls in love with each other and they were twins, but I don't even really like incest. Weird that I daydreamed about them back then and then forgot it. The second thing is that I was in love with LR's ending theme. Am I crazy or was it super romantic? Did you feel it was just friendship and I saw too much? I'm talking specifically just about the ending theme both the song and the video which shows Takina running to meet Chisato. I haven't checked it out in ages but I still feel that it's super romantic and doesn't match the final parts of the story. Maybe it was bait-y after all.
>>4604900Gen Alpha-chan...
>>4604900LR's ending theme is pretty good, I agree. As for the content I'd say it was just an average action show. They played it too safe with the characters, probably because of the huge marketing campaign and people involved in it.
Everyone is saying the ending of Goodbye Lara sucked
>>4604967Didn't watch any of it but I'm seeing people mention it was yuri but badly written
>>4604967I watched the first 4 or 5 episodes and then didn't bother with it anymore.Sooo, what's the matter?
>>4604967Final episode spoilers Laras heart kills Mari. Lara starts talking about how all she wants is to live a world with mari, and she ends up reviving Mari. It immediately cuts to 6 months later and Lara is boarding a train to move away because she wants to be more independant. It is implied it is only temporary, but there is no kiss despite the importance of a kiss being extremely prevalent throughout the show.
>>4604981 (me)So its still very much yuri (regardless of shitposters), it just has a very typical yuri ending, which is ass.
>>4604981some questionsSo what about her family? Wasn't her whole motivation to find love to save her family and her whacky underwater world? Did she just abandon them to maybe maybe not live and love Mari outside of that whole "she has to find real love to save the fish people" kind of situation?
>>4604988She already saved them when Mari activated her true love light in the middle of the episode and now they are getting better slowly.
>>4604988theyre saved, but it'll take a few years for them to recover, so nothing else really happens with them, and they still hate humans. Lara said theyd have a talk when they awake, but thats it
>the fish people still hate humansMaybe if you fed them more depressed lesbians this wouldn't happen.t. mermaid
>>4605001Grace was right, and also should probably have just let Rowan die in his sleep.
>>4604981I don't know what people were expecting. At this point for an anime original the girls not being dead or in a het relationship is a good ending.
>>4604981>>4604986The final episode would have been perfect were it not for the last 6 minutes. Japs can't into endings, and they never will.
>>4605009People are expecting the anime original curse to be broken, but I guess Japan loves their status quo and anime originals will keep doing anime original things
>>4605009>what people were expectingA decent ending that doesn't shit all over that came before for the sake of ending on a bittersweet note. This is the bare minimum and it goes beyond yuri, directors just don't get it.
>>4605031Madoka TV ending was great. As was Rebellion, with the only problem being that the franchise became successful and thus they left it open for sequel, but that hardly hurts the ending bad enough to be a failure
>>4605033It's the fault of retards hating on happy stuff as "cliche boring, overdone". The kind of people to make originals are the artist types who want to go against cliches and shit. Otherwise you can just work on an adaptation. You need to be an special kind to venture into the risk of original instead. And that kind of person wants to go against cliches and shit, and thus think bittersweet and not delivering is betterConsider how many people's praise of Madoka is basically "this is dark and sad and depressing instead of being like those shitty happy cliche magical girl shows", for example
Anime original yuri is just asking for too much I think
>>4605034>Madoka TV ending was great.Yeah, too bad it led into Wraith Arc, which was good but did kinda undo the hopeful ending of the TV anime.
Reminder the Lara director was an apprentice of Revue Starlight director and worked on StarlightNow how did the Starlight movie end?
We lucked out on Kaguya. Nothing on that level will happen again for another five years
>>4605070>Now how did the Starlight movie end?"And then they all split, never to meet again"
>Remember to always deliver a disappointing ending to all those fans of yuri. They love it and keep coming back for more.Directors' 101, probably.
>>4605092Exactly. This is the same studio and a dude who worked on Starlight and learned from it's director. Not surprising in hindsight.
>>4605094Not like straight originals are much better, LMAOSo the part about "yuri fans" feels unnecessary
The problem is people overrate the label of "anime original". This is why so many originals have pretentiosu retarded staffs. Because they think the act of making an original is itself bold and better than "lame lazy adaptation". We have KimiShinu and TaiAri. Lara shitting the bed is sad but we still had 2 great consistent shows. People don't care because they don't have the "original" label. Well, the adaptation is better than the bold "original"
>>4605070>>4605092>>4605098Got told on the Lara thread so you came to the general to pathetically samefag.
>>4605094>>4605100Sayonara Lara is the Sonny Boy of yuri.
>>4605108Got told what? That all the criticisms of Lara's ending are invalid? If the ending is shit, muh montage and MV don't fix shitFuck off Revue tard. If all Lara needs for you to defend it is a shitty montage, you don't truly hate it
>>4605110Sonny Boy, Gquuuuuux (all the fighting over the guy and he just fucks over to another dimension. At least Lara is still on Earth, LMAO), Code Geass Roze (guy dies and MC ends up mute, LMAO)
>>4605114Being proven right is 'getting told' nowadays.
>>4605031Yeah, cut the epilogue and it's great. Or add some runtime, it feels like there's a whole episode missing between the end of the climax and the beginning of the epilogue.
>>4605103We also have the yuri side couple in the circus anime.
>>4605037>>"this is dark and sad and depressing instead of being like those shitty happy cliche magical girl shows"The funny thing is that these people don't really know what they're complaining about. Even watching two episodes would be a miracle. Everything else comes from memes. That's why you also see people praising "different series" when the sad reality is that they're more common than they think. The truth is, they don't know shit about anime in general.
>>4605092>>"And then they all split, never to meet again"Is that what happens when you're watching TikTok while pretending to watch something else?
>>4605100Het already has the root problem of being Het, then you add the other problems and it becomes a worse experience, the difference is that, Hetfags and some Fujos are idiots who will refuse to accept that their new favorite thing is a piece of shit.
>>4605116That reminds me of the silly complaints about other series like Erase or Aldnoah Zero where the "main couple" doesn't end up together and the anime is trash because of it (although it was trash before that by the way). Not even the trashy Franxx has the main couple together either.
>>4605141It's what happens when you watch the movie. You think busy top actresses dedicated to their carrers will do anything else or waste time on relationships? They're all in different places working for difrerent people. They may meet for some production, but all professional before being separated again.
Mari is the only who didnΒ΄t score her fishEven philipines could do it
>>4605132meh, they don't even get significant screentime
>>4605154philipines feels like overrated garbage in other ways. Looks ugly and probably sounds uglyI hate gaijintards taking advantage of anime floppoing to sell their shit.
>>4605141It's a schizo, don't feed him.
>>4605157>probablySo you didn't even watch it?
>>4605160Yes, you'd have to be a schizo to watch a movie that shits on what little yuri was in a decent at best series.
>>4605126The epilogue feels like it came from a different show altogether. Even the direction of the final scene feels ominous, with Lara's face being hidden and her acting oddly distant and dishonest. It's supposed to be a bittersweet ending, but the visuals and the context don't convey that all, it feels like a non-sequitur.
>>4605162Why would I watch something that looks unappealing? Would you watch the "90000000000 girfriends who love male MC-kun" before trashing on it? No because you already know the haremslop is shit. Same here with the indie philipino shit. Japan has more appealing endings like Vapor Trail and the works of it's creator
>>4605168>Why would I watch something that looks unappealing? So you don't come out like an ignorant retard for talking shit about stuff you know nothing about over superficial bullshit.>Would you watch the "90000000000 girfriends who love male MC-kun" before trashing on it? >>4605174What's superficial is thinking that visuals are bad because they trigger your retarded ass.
>>4605175>what really happenedAs in what appears in the movie or the retarded cope created most likely out of trauma after wasting 75+ minutes on a shit movie?
>>4605173It wasn't. point. Should be a webnovel if the script is all that's good
>>4605175>what really happenedThe director being very careful about separating all the couples, yes. No one even goes to college or further with their suppossed "love"
>>4605186It's official, you're just stupid.
>>4605191Are you referring to the part where they just go off to study in different places? That's not a separation. The end credits literally show Hikari about to reunite with Karen after the entire movie (if you paid attention) where Hikari was an idiot refusing to be with Karen, finally accepting things after Mahiru's serial killer sequence and the final fight with Karen. But it doesn't surprise me that you're not paying attention. Even when the anime came out, it was full of idiots pretending Mayakuro was more important than it actually was. No, nobody really separates; they're just studying for their acting careers, that's all.
>>4605199Stop projecting and pretending, that's why we're full of shitty Iseaki, Romcoms and yaoi, those people never really complain about those productions made with their asses and embrace them completely without any real resistance, here we have something yuri and decent at its worst, they act as if it's the worst shit ever created.
>>4605200And Lara will reunite with Mari. Keep coping, retardThey have busy carreers,. They can't meet. They separated for good. Do you think Lara's eding would be good if we had the same reunion cope shit in the credits?
>>4605201>you have to have utter shit taste and not complain because the most brainless people on earth who have turds instead of brains in their heads don't complainKill yourself
>>4605167It's so weird. I wouldn't even mind the weird atmosphere or the events themselves IF we could just understand why this is happening. I think I got most of what the show was trying to say non-verbally during the rest of its runtime, but I just can't wrap my head around this timeskip. All I'm left thinking isn't that I'm sad or anything, just "huh??"
>Revue and Lara are good if you have the same taste as fujos, hetshitters and isekai subhumansSpeaks to how shit they are that you need such utter lack of standards and taste
>>4605202You're just kicking and screaming, you're not contributing anything coherent.>>4605203>>4605205No idiots, it means that money will not be invested in productions that are criticized for stupid things, since it is a better investment to put money into garbage that requires no effort and will be accepted no matter how shitty it is.
>>4605206The girls meeting again after a short separation doesn't cost anything, but they still have them separated forever.
>>4605206And if you don't criticize you get more separation shit. Everyone who praised Revue is to blame for Lara's director thinking this shit is a good idea. We have great adaptations, anyway. We don't need shitty pretentious originals that go nowhere

>>4605559Epic webm, good writing mocking bad writing, as it should be.
Lara failed, Nanoha failed, Yumemita failed, Grow Up Show failed enough that the finale will certainly not change that, Ribbon Hero failed, freaking Madoka failed after 12 years of anticipation, wtf is with this season?Thank goodness for KimiShinu, but I would've never guessed the capcom advert would turn out to be second best.
>>4605645It's fine, we're winning too hard already. More and more yuri manga keeps getting serializations and adaptations. The industry is still cowardly but things are changing fast over the years. Kaguya was a step in the right direction and its success will push things further with time.10 years ago having 1 non-subtext adaptation per season was almost unheard of.
>>4605648>adaptationsWish we weren't stuck in 's2 never' territory all the time though.
>>4605651True, YagaKimi was successful enough to warrant a second season, for example.
>>4605645>Nanoha failedEh, I don't think you can even say that it failed when it barely tried anything. It's sad how no one cares anymore about what used to be one of the most popular anime on 4chan.
>>4605645>>failed
>>4605655He doesn't say that because of actual success or popularity; he says it because there is no explicit on-screen sex, nor are there official statements or a flowchartβcomplete with written confirmation and stamps of approvalβmaking it clear that they are yuri.
>>4605660Are you seriously defending this recent nothingburger in the modern year? Forget the yuri, the show had nothing at all going for it other than nostalgia bait.
>>4605660So, using those parameters, only Mahoako is yuri.
>>4605662Not even that; since it focuses on abuse, perversion, and minors, it doesn't qualify as yuri either.>>4605661What the hell are you talking about?
>>4605660The failures of those shows go beyond just not delivering on the yuri, and have been discussed to death by now.Visit the Nanoha thread if you're curious about that one.
>>4605653I don't know; what the anime set up for the post-finale period wasn't particularly promisingβespecially if it planned to venture into "I'm going to prove I'm better than my dead sister" territory, which is a recurring but stupid Japanese trope.
>>4605663>What the hell are you talking about?NTA but he's talking about the new Nanoha series. Which isn't even true, as there's a het couple using the same terms NanoFate (and now ShiinaTowa) uses to refer to their relationship
>>4605666Does that mean we were wrong all alongβthat in the Nanoha multiverse, friendship is actually something romantic, and the word "love" simply doesn't exist?
>>4605664No, you're just being an idiot or a "Hetfag" (same shit); the point is that they exist and present some form of yuri, just rubbing it in the faces of "normal people" is already a victory for yuri. The only real failure in recent years is that a piece of absolute shit like Eupho is considered yuri by philistines and heretics.
>>4605670This might shock you, but yuri-friendly stuff can still be bad.If you think it's just me you missed lots of discussion on this board.
>>4605673Because theyβre wrongβitβs that simple. Itβs not that yuri content canβt be bad, but even a piece of trash like Citrus is far superior to the majority of Het rom-coms that get hailed as masterpieces when, in reality, theyβre just overhyped by waifufags and silly girls projecting themselves onto the characters.
>>4605675>the majority of Het rom-coms that get hailed as masterpiecesNo idea why you'd bring that up on a yuri board, nobody argued otherwise, but being better than a pile of stinky garbage isn't a tall bar to clear.
>>4605676Just understand the damn problem for once: if youβre an investor with money or someone looking to back a project, what are you going to choose?Trash thatβs easy to make and requires no real effort, aimed at an audience of idiots whoβll accept whatever gets thrown at them?Or series that require real effort, but come with a fandom of whiny kids who wonβt support anything and think companies should actually pay them to consume entertainment? The upcoming anime season makes it clear which stance is currently prevailing: less yuri simply translates to less yuriβnot the stupid logic held by many people here who pretend that the absence of something even mildly yuri implies it will be replaced by super-explicit yuri.
>>4605679I'm losing track of your argument anon, what are you trying to say? That we should blindly acclaim crappy things just cause they have some semblance of yuri, otherwise some investor might read a negative post here and decide against producing a new yuri anime?Did I get the gist of it?
>>4605680No, the problem is that those aren't shitty series with yuri; they're decentβor at worst, acceptableβseries with yuri. They have at least a minimal intention of being yuri, and that in itself is a merit.Compare it to actual trash that does or attempts nothing like Musume Senki or Pon no Michi or straight-up shit that hasn't got a fucking clue how yuri works and botches it completely, like Twin Angel or Ghost Concert.
>>4605682>the problem is that those aren't shitty seriesOk, this is obviously opinable since 'shit' isn't exactly an objective quality, but I concede that the aforementioned series all have at least some redeeming qualities. So what's the argument in the end, that we should measure our words when criticizing their flaws, to keep up appearances that we're easy to please, in case investors decide to pay us a visit in our humble abode?
>>4605686Anon, investors don't give a shit about some dead board well known to shit on anything and everything. They'll just look at numbers and go from there, and I guarantee that 90% of the few users on /u/ have never payed a penny for a single anime episode. It's not like your argument is completely lacking in logic, but this isn't the battleground for it, you may want to try actually influential platforms like twitter, youtube, reddit, facebook, etc...
>>4605688The definition of yuri in those platforms (and, honestly, everywhere outside of /u/ in western circles) is a disaster. We've seen what the west does when it tries to do yuri. It never ends well.
>>4605691Well if what you want is try your hand at manipulating markets, you certainly won't be able to do so by lashing out at the handful of anons here.

This season alone had two GOOD entirely yuri series. Anime originals are fewer than before, but that's not a yuri-specific problem.
>>4606208Please stop doing this falseflag shit.
>>4606223I unironically sat through....what was it, 7? 6? episodes of Loveless yaoi to watch Kouya and Yamato.Could I have skipped directly to their arc? Yes. Did I do it? No, because I wanted the proper context of their introduction into the story and it was worth it. It made all the shitty yaoi worth it.That's what made those times special. Every drip tasted ever so sweet because we were in the desert.
>>4606232The couple was good, but this series made it clear to me that Fujos have mental problems, especially for considering a sick, psychopathic killer as a valid romantic interest (Yaoi) for the MC. It's not because I'm a yuri fan, or because the girls were a good couple, but, come on!!
>>4606232I like the characters design of the girls but theres no way Im gonna watch a yaoi anime just for them, I was never that desperate for yuri crumbs btw for some dumb reason even to this day I still assume that those bitches are from needless instead of loveless lel
>>4606311To be fair, they are technically antagonists, but since there is really no animosity towards the protagonists, nothing bad happens to them. What's really funny is that the Yaoi part is quite weak (I swear they call it Yaoi subtext in some parts), but the funniest thing is that this also has some Hetshipptease elements with the two male protagonists. One is with a girl his age with big breasts who apparently is hated by fujos, and the other is a young teacher. Isn't this supposed to be Yaoi? Why do that, even if the main pairing is quite obvious?
>>4606344
Finally got around to watching Adolescence of Utena. I've seen the original show a long time ago, so watching this was quite a trip. I kinda miss the days when the anime industry would just randomly spew out a bizarre arthouse project that feels like it wasn't supposed to be seen by anyone other than the most obsessed nerds. Why did they transform Utena into a car at one point? Is it complex symbolism about adulthood, partnership, and escape? Or did they just decide to have a crazy race car sequence because why the fuck not? We may never know. And that's the whole movie. Nowadays, no one would spend so much money on a movie like this. Also, while the kiss is an obvious key moment, there are a lot of erotic elements here in general. For me, the highlight might have actually been the scene where Anthy makes Utena undress and model for her. It was extremely sensual, feeling almost like Anthy is taking Utena's innocence, even though they don't touch each other. That's the kind of high art eroticism that feels very different from more pornographic nakedness we're used to these days.Basically, they don't make 'em like this anymore.
I like pornographic nakedness. If the two girls have real romantic feelings for each other I like seeing them destroy each other's pussies and ruin the bed.
>>4606430>>Or did they just decide to have a crazy race car sequence because why the fuck not? That is literally the official explanation; there is nothing artistic or symbolic about it.>>Basically, they don't make 'em like this anymore.Thank heavens for that; itβs not as if Ikuhara has stopped doing itβitβs just that, without the novelty factor, you can see it for what it really is and always has been: symbolism for the sake of symbolism, and nothing more. The yaoi series featuring kappas was simply terrible.

They do it all the time in my country, that's how they keep low-selling series going, fans will buy it and keep it afloat, they lose the casuals but if a series is not selling there are no casulas buying it to begin with and they make up for it with the extra gain coming from the higher price."people aren't buying it, let's completely cut off half or more readership by not printing it" is definitely not a clever move.

>>4607133Nice. Hayami Saori has been in so many shows I've watched lately, hope she does lots more yuri.
>>4607117Because it's objectively true and we have more than a few instances of it being publicly acknowledged by the authors themselves. Notably the duo behind watamote explicitly stated the popularity of the fan translations are the only reason they were even able to get the series licensed in English to begin with, and are part of what helped them keep the series going as long as it has. Manga piracy is where 90% of people outside of Japan are going to learn about a series. It's not being sold, let alone advertised here. I have no problem admitting to pirating for immoral reasons when it's the case, like with video games, but there's a difference between pirating PokΓ©mon, and pirating a manga that's not officially translated or being sold in your country. Especially when those people go on to support the creator and spread news about the series, that's more money and exposure than they'd have without it. You see it here all the time when an anime is announced for a series no one's read, then someone starts scanlating it prior to the release, and all of a sudden everyone's talking about it.You'd maybe have a case if you specified only series that are licensed and and have official up to date scans, but that's not what you're talking about. Even then, most people aren't going to support the author before they even know if they like the series. Who tf buys a series before reading it anymore >>4607122>I'd personally know about it because I can read japanese, and lurk in the raws thread that has one post a day, so therefore translations wouldn't give any meaningful exposure beyond thatRoom temp IQ If this isn't bait.
>>4607141Of course it's bait.
>>4607135Sounds like the readers are to blame for having shit taste. The couples all loosely connected together by the same breadcrumb trail is the best part. reminds me of kindred spirits
>>4607135AnoKiss managed to run 10 volumes doing the same thing. And being a modern interpretation of Hanamonogatari readers should have expected it would delve into side couples at some point, which practically every yuri does anyway.
>>4607143>The couples all loosely connected is the best partMeanwhile, 4 volumes in, MC's love interest is still barely a character; it's fine to develop side couples but the core needs to be there first, author's been putting the cart before the horses.
>>4606931>author only uses Bluesky>author also told people not to post scansI fear international fans won't be able to do shit in this case. I'm already seeing a bunch of people trying to shill it on Twitter but posts aren't getting traction because they can't post the pages from the manga in context and people aren't being hooked into reading. If Noighd is desperate enough he should just message the author and explain how letting people post scans can help.>>4607135Virgin's Empire had a similar setup of a rotating cast of pairings and it did fine. I personally don't mind the setup of AriSaku but the main couple is easily the worst pairing for me, and I wonder if other readers feel the same way. I'm just following along hoping I'll like the next featured pairing as much as I did Yamabe and Mia.
>>4607149Noighd is already on thin ice since Igarashi explicitly lamented seeing his pirated scanlations. Why should he expose himself anyway? Let her be retarded if she wants to.
>>4607151Well I said if he was desperate enough. And if the author was also desperate enough to save her series. There's a chance it moving to digital only isn't actually indicative of being right under the axe too given that some manga last a long time and are digital only the whole time, but that's not something we can know for sure for this manga.
>>4607149>the main couple is easily the worst pairingYou've hit the nail on the head anon.People who read serializations don't normally think along the lines of:>I'm just following along hoping I'll like the next featured pairingThat's more what a one-shot or anthology reader would think, the distinguishing feature of a series is that you get longer and sometimes multiple arcs about the same characters; after all if what you're looking for is a pretty much self-contained short story, you don't need to buy the next volume of the series to get it, you might as well read anything else in the same vein. Now, it's true that there's still successful series where the main characters turn out to be less interesting than side characters, and people want to see the latters more, like SasaKoi or WataYuri, but those make up for it by making the side couples just as important and central to the story as the main one, if not more so.But that's not what's happening in this case, side characters are still treated as such, they get a complete character arc over a few chapters and that's it, then it's back to setting up a yet another barely related short story, while the characters that the series is actually about feel like the least developed ones. It's a shame because I love the tone and atmosphere of the series, but I think the author's heart is not much into sticking to it, she seems to like small bursts much more, so I'm not surprised readers are gradually being turned off.

For anyone who cares, the recently released γ BanG Dream! Our Notes γgame has some yuri content from what I've seen so far. Two of the new bands have girls crushing on other girls to some extent and the existing bands got a few sapphic interactions during story events as well. There might be more things to uncover since no one finished all storylines yet.Character banters are currently limited to band members only but this will change in the future, which should increase the number of yuri story bits. Don't expect full-on romance but the ships are sailing and canonically endorsed in some cases.P.S.: Millsage may outgay AveMyGo in the future. >>4607439I'd say it's bocchi-level. There are hints the characters might be legit gay (like MC making a yuri short manga) but it's focus isn't any kind of romance and shipping but the proccess of making manga and exploring Sensei's backstory as a failed pro to explore what can go wrong for our main cast if they choose to go pro in the future and why she's so oppossed to going beyond the hobby level
>>4607439The teacher literally drew herself marrying her first (female) fan
>>4607443>it's bocchi-levelThen I guess it's a skip for me, I'm also pretty burnt out on stories about manga-making, and honestly both the art style and character designs are hard to look at.
>>4607439>>4607445You have an adult woman explicitly in love with Senseiβand she makes no effort to hide it; the kiss from the other girl doesn't mean they're a couple, but it does make it clear that "gay stuff" is normal, at least for this group. >>4607439>>barely goggles-level series like bocchi the rockWhat the hell are you talking about?
On this day, 20 years ago, the finale of Strawberry Panic aired, and I've finished my rewatch of it. It's amazing how well this series holds up after so long. Shameless lesbianism, constant kisses, confessions, and even sex. Why can't we get shows like this anymore? Originals never stick the landing, and adaptations always end before anything interesting happens. There's also some stuff I had forgotten; like how much of the first half is SOL with little drama, or that Nagisa and Tamao had two other friends who vanish and only reappear near the end, or that Kaname and Amane don't really interact until the tennis episode very late.

>>4607495It was a victim of the mass dmca nuke on mangadex, It had 9 chapters translated on mangadex and no one picked it back up afterwards.
Something about Grow Up Show really bothered me, but im not sure exactly how to describe it. Autistic rant warning:Said it before, but i feel like the show started out as amazing, but it ended up just becoming "okay" by the end. Everyones character development seemingly finished immediately after their dedicated episode, and they turned into background characters that would occasionally chip in with their two-cents. Mizuka's character development episode in particular was really weird, because instead of opening up to Ouka or one of the other troupe members she spent the entire time bonding with, it's Mitchy who tells everyone about her trauma for her. Then from that episode on, Mizuka becomes really docile and just loses a lot of the chemistry she had with the members as they no longer clash or bounce off of her like they did with her old assertive personality. Just not a fan of the twist of her actually loving the circus the entire time either, nor how the girls obsess a little too much over the lotus member guys. Then in the last third of the series they throw in the competition and Maria's illness, but it comes off like they just wanted something high-stakes to end the series with, and ends up being pretty inconsequential. Maria's surgery with very low-success rates overlapping with the date of the tournament? She goes to the circus anyways, then the surgery is rescheduled and is a success. The deal with Nanami to transfer the members to her circus? she changes her mind. Mizuka also never sees her dad, and Mitchy never checks up on Ouka after she promised to look after Mizuka either. Then the big reveal at the end is that Maria marries Mizuka's father.
>>4607813I wasn't expecting anything explicit to happen between Mizuka and Ouka, but a special scene with the two of them (or at least with the other HEAVILY-implied couple) at the end would've been nice. If Maria can get married, is it too much to ask for Shizuku/Svetlana to have a couples moment too?. The date in episode 11 was really nice, and i wanted more of that (and maybe some with the other couple too), and wouldve preferred if they opted to tone down the ending in exchange for more scenes like that with the troupe. The earlier episodes also felt a bit gayer too, with Ouka being excessively clingy about Mizuka, and the other pairs getting jealous about Mizuka training with their partner. All and all, another decent series that i think could've turned out a lot better personally, but maybe that's just meAlso has the anthology manga released yet with the Shizuku x Svetlana chapter drawn byRococo?
>>4607813>Grow Up Show really bothered meI could've dealt with subpar storytelling if the writing wasn't so het-minded all throughout, despite the all paired female cast.Sasuga A-1 Pictures, can't even trust them to do subtext right.
>>4607819Well it could be a lot worse, we could get epilogue timeskip showing all girls marrie dto rnadom men, in reality we got only one who anyone here didn't care about as yuri shipping goes.
>>4607820>it could be a lot worse,That's a moot point, it could also have been a lot better, or at least on par with similar yuri subtext anime, which was the bare minimum.Instead it managed to be worse, except for the one side couple that was actually intended to be romantic.

I don't mind subtext, but I'd like a little more of an emotional payoff for series that builds up a relationship for a dozen episodes. I'm looking at you, yurokura
>>4607820>who anyone here didn't care about as yuri shipping goesI made a post either this thread or the last one about shipping Maria with Rin and being annoyed when Maria started joking about how she thought Rin was having a tryst with a man. Still the safest choice I guess
>>4607813Sadly all too common with originals. Necronomico and Turkey last year had strong beginnings but lost steam near the end, and the finales were so forgettable even if they weren't particularly bad. What's really disappointing is how cheap the circus performances were. That's where the bulk of the budget should have gone to.
>>4607736So the older girl adopted the younger as her daughter?
Touching her pillowy parts with your face.
>>4607906So they can join the Koalas?
>>4607819I don't know why they do that. Even right before they found out the black lotus was mizukas dad, they kept talking about how hot he was. It's nothing new in these types of shows but still
>>4607913Are koalas gay?
Why are people here being so weirdly insistent about these two not being explicit? When there's some unresolved subtext or yuribait a la Jellyfish you can see people say similar things elsewhere. But only here is where people tie themselves into knots trying to downplay it or something. I've even seen Grok call it yuri. >inb4 it's all hetfag trollsClearly not the case based on replies
>>4607922They repeatedly call each other 'honey' and Shizuku even refers to Svetlana as her wife.
>>4607916Supposedly the females are. Thats why Renako's symbol is a Koala.
>>4607922>> yuribait a la JellyfishDon't use terms you don't understand; there is literally no male character for that misguided notion.>>Why are people here being so weirdly insistent about these two not being explicit? There's also the stupid insistence that they are secondary characters, when they are part of the main cast; that's another way of belittling their relationship even more.
>>4607931>unresolved subtext or yuribaitJellyfish is the former.
>>4607933It literally presents at least 2 couples and a Yaya, there's nothing unresolved there, nor any Het that could be considered bait, did we watch the same anime?I would believe it if things had only been hinted at, but that's not even the case; everything was always quite obvious. It's simply not a romance series, nothing more.
>>4607849>> NecronomicoThe anime ultimately delivered on its promise: Miko saves her girlfriend; that was the character's entire motivation, with an added yaya for convenience.>>TurkeyThis one had another problem; it was never really good from the start. The development was acceptable but poor, and the ending just exists. The anime aimed for more than it could realistically achieve, and there was no yuri to make it even remotely memorable.
>>4607940
>>4607914>I don't know why they do thatIt's an anime made by people who don't get what yuri is about. There's the misleading notion, especially in Japan, that yuri doesn't imply romance, any close relationship between girls can count as yuri, regardless of their sexuality; you wouldn't believe how many nips openly love yuri but hate lesbians, it's all rooted in the infamous Class S mentality that's still a thing there. The staff of this anime had no ill will, they wanted to please yuri fans so they created a bunch of pairings each representing what they thought could be a type of yuri, so you have the lesbian yuri, the familal yuri, childhood friend yuri, girls meets girl yuri, and yes, even Maria and Rin are intended to be yuri, probably adult yuri. But since the romantic type was already represented by the lesbians, all other girls naturally defaulted to being into men, because it's the norm, as far as their understanding goes that's always the case for yuri that is not explicitly romantic. But yuri subtext done right is never like that, it enforces very strict absence of interest in men for the whole cast, so that every type of yuri can be interpreted as romantic if that's what the audience wants, but the studio that made this anime only had a huge history of het productions behind it, so their knowledge was very superficial.
>>4608205everything clicks when you realize it's the same studio that made lycoreco
The problem with "subtext" yuri everytime is that het gets to be super explicit if it gets to exist which pretty much undermine everything about subtext.
>>4608210That's only if you're working under the same assumption that being explicit is somehow more important or more real than being subtextual, which simply isn't.
>>4608207You'd think lycoreco money would let them animate the performances as more than slideshows. What the hell happened to their budget?
>>4608210Not really LMAO. In Nanoha for example: the straight pairings like Caro/Erio get even less than the gay pairings. Chrono and Amy did marry but it's an off-screen deal and probably to kill any Chrono/Nanoha shipping from Lyrical Toybox (In there it was Chrono who was Nanoha's rival turned lover. Then the anime made Fate to have that role), and then in the most recent show, the villains Mana and Eiji are basically an evil version of the "boring guy gets a magical wish fulfillment girlriend" shit but only ever define their relationship as "best friends">>4608207Stuido =/= staff. Grow Up show doesn't share director or writer with Lycoreco>>4608232The studio has a bunch of productions going on that require their atention, Sadly, CGDCT original loses in priority to adaptations of shonens and big names like Fate, SAO or Solo Leveling
Can an elf love a sylph?
>>4608263>Mana>magical wish fulfillment girlfriendThe insane superpowered barely human cannibal? I know being into toxic girls is a thing, but there has to be a limit.
>>4608278That's why I say it's an evil version of the trope. Before meeting her he was ordinary salaryman like many MCs of such works are "ordinary salaryman/high school guy" and then he met a girl and by working with her, got money and power and rose up in societyHis original looks before his hair went white also are close to the "generic black haired guy" design of those MCs.
I didn't have Lady Gaga on my Bandori cover song bingo card, but the song is a banger. Do they call her Gaga-sama in Japan?
Fall season looks grim, at least for regular shows
>>4608474Regular Show ended 9 years ago, anon.
>>4608384That was very good thanks for the recommendation. Hatsune can sing sing not just anime sing huh.
>>4608384My honest reaction
When will Dynasty improve their online reader? It's been 20 years and it still lacks a longstrip reading/continuous scrolling option. There used to be third-party scripts for it, right? No way I hallucinated it.
I'm trying to find this manga. It's about an OL who I think has long hair and there's a maou in the shape of a little girl sitting on her lap on the cover. It's not good and it was axed I think.

Does this hand gesture mean the same thing in their world?
>>4608658It's a universal sign
>>4608649Thank you. I remembered liking his art more. But at least I found this which is a great piece. Too bad he didn't make both of them together instead.https://x.com/ninkoro_anime/status/1923016014582907154
>>4608661I was following it but ended up dropping at some point. Will check the ending later.
>>4608658They're both single now, right? She knows what she's doing.
>>4608669Just like the trail of dropped candy?
>>4608575Yeah, she has a really beautiful voice when she's just singing normally.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iX3OwPyPxIIKinda funny that she's singing a sappy love song while Saki-chan plays the piano.

The yuri math geek and his LLM are 'analyzing' Shuukura now.
>>4609005The guess is that this is a humorous side effect of attempting to teach his pet LLM media literacy. But the idea of judging the 'acceptability' of behavior between two lesbians in a manga is weird. Just look at how often sexual assault, rape and child molestation claims get tossed about on /u/. How are you going to teach a LLM about acceptable behavior in yuri when no two fans agree on it?
>>4609005Amazing. The Bandori analysis was interesting.
>>4609007>How are you going to teach a LLM about acceptable behavior in yuri when no two fans agree on it?Attempts at yuri data analysis end up showcasing that the alignment problem is unsolvable.
This was unexpected.
Kore Kaite Shine was one of the most enjoyable adaptations I've watched in a while. It was a funny and touching, and the voice acting and music were great. And was Kokoro's oneechan shipping her own sister during the credits with that heart hand?
