Have you watched Doraemon: Nobita and the Steel Troops, /u/?

There is a rule that every film title must start with either "Nobita to" or "Nobita no". Riruru's drama starts being focused on Nobita as a way to involve the robot army in the story, before it shifts almost entirely to Shizuka in the second half of the film, both of which end up resolving the main conflict at the end.
>>
never saw anything from Doraemon ever
>>4602368
but this looks interesting, even for non-/u/ reasons
>>
>>
Doraemon yuri, wtf…
>>
I've never liked Nobita. He's a loser and an asshole. His friends are assholes too but at least they're not the protagonists. If the series was only Shizuka and friends it would be much nicer to read.

yeah, this movie(or rather the original from like 1986 because it was the only one I was able to find for free and with subs online) was the first time I ever saw anything Doreamon related, and you're absolutely right about him.

Isn't it on Aniwave? Missed chance, the 2011 remake has more fleshed out characters and a tighter direction overall.

Why age her up? Our logo on the box is cool though

That describes pretty much any anime protagonist

huh, didn't know that one. I've got a few streaming sites, and none of them had it. Thanks
>fleshed out characters
I've browsed a bit through the 2011 movie without subs, and I don't see it. Rather, the orb being made into a mascot character that looked and sounded super annoying was horrible, plus it distracted being the emotional character of the movie sharing screentime with the girl robot. In the original, when she "died" the focus was solely on her, in the 2011 it switched back and forth between the annoying bird orb and the robot girl.
If I find the time I might still watch the new version now though, just to compare properly

Pippo is not bad. His drama reinforces Nobita's character throughout the second half of the film after Riruru shifts to Shizuka. You would think it's not exactly needed, but it's an issue when the film keeps partially focusing on him when he's not interesting to follow anymore; his bond with Pippo is precisely what becomes interesting.
It also mirrors (heh) the pairing of Riruru and Shizuka while directly channeling it, an aspect I found to be well executed as it's a key piece on challenging Riruru's beliefs. Riruru's change of heart in the original film did feel pretty sudden and kinda out of nowhere. She barely displays signs of uncertainty over the mission or her understanding of human nature before she criticizes the army commander for their actions.
You may remember the scene where Shizuka gives her medicine that is, in reality, a sleeping pill, something Riruru is aware of. In the original version, she still shows to be quite smug, even malicious upon spitting it, whereas the remake gives her an uncertain look that fits nicely with her slowly warming to Shizuka and her human nature, and being unsure over the robot army doing the right thing at large.

Outside of that, the 2011 version has incredibly high quality animation even amongst current anime, the soundtrack is much stronger, and RiruShizu is cuter.
Also, for any /m/ anons interested, no, the big robot is not CGI.

Decided to watch it because of this thread and at first I was pissed off because I thought it was going to be just a couple very small moments, but by the end I was very happy with this pairing. Great movie too, thanks for the rec.

After going back in time with Shizuka and what the robots call God proving to be useless in the verge of death, Riiruru sacrifices herself by re-programming the first robots of their kind in order to stop the thousands-of-years-into-the-future army from enslaving humanity, leading to the dissapearance of Mechatopia's entire population out of existence.

Still a gayer anime with better ending than Goodbye Lara. Grim.
