The official CPK manga spin-off "Chou Kaguya Meshi!" released its second free chapter. It is delightful and very yuri. Also confirmed Kaguyabot is actually a bioroid.

The blu-ray finally released and there are torrents in the paste for anyone who wants to finally get better video and audio quality!
Alongside the BD came bonus features, like a 30 minute movie commentary by the main trio (in character), a duet version of Reply for IroKagu and some cut scenes that didn't make it into the Netflix release. All are in the paste as well, though I want to share the IroKagu duet immediately:

The movie Revival Screening has begun and the movie's box office has now already exceeded 3 billion yen! The 4DX theater experience seems to be especially amazing. Oh to live in Japan and be conviently near a Ultra 4DX comaptible theater... Kaguya and Iroha will explain the many different theater experiences here:

It's true, Iroha legally owns her android body.

You can never own a soul though. That can only be possessed by mutual love.

Can you do VRchat stuff without a VR headset? I think I heard you can play some stuff in it with a third person view.
>>

Yeah you can get it on steam and play with a mouse and keyboard in first person or third person. Worked fine for the virtual concert earlier this year.
>>
>>4608051
That's pretty cool. The VR games probably won't work that way, but I'm definitely gonna be at the concert in December then~

I have a question. When do anons think Iroha fell in love with Kaguya?
I am aware that falling in love is usually a gradual process and falling in love in an instant like Kaguya did is quite rare, but for the sake of argument, let's assume that there was a moment where the switch was flipped, where Iroha truly fell for Kaguya and went beyond mere affection.

To me the visual language of the movie speaks for itself. Kaguya was confirmed by official sources to have fallen for Iroha in that moment where she watched her determined expression and thought she was truly beautiful.
But Iroha also has a moment like that. During the performance of Ex-Otogibanashi, when Kaguya pulls her along full of joy and exuberant pure life energy, something in stark contrast with everything Iroha is at this point... she sees Kaguya's lovely expression and the music literally returns to her eyes. Music is a symbol for Iroha's pure emotion and love. It's something she denied herself for so long, simply living for survival and achievements. But that love she sealed away was pried free by Kaguya. That's why in this moment where she watches Kaguya live life to the fullest, only existing in this very moment... that's when Iroha truly fell in love with her. In my opinion.

That's why she reacted that way to the confession. She was aware Kaguya liked her, but this time it was different, it was clearly a romantic sentiment and Iroha's emotions are in complete disarray, because she feels the same way and can't fathom how her heart got there.
>>
>>4608039
It is the one from mangadex. Maybe you have some weird settings on?
>>
>>4608147
Well, there was this line from Iroha in the LN
>不思議だね。かぐやとはいろんなことがあって、いっぱい怒って、いっぱい腹立って、いっぱい困らせられたけど、それでもずっと、最初から好きだったきがする。かぐやはどう?
(I retyped it, so sorry if there's any typos). So, from the beginning on some level, I suppose.
>>
>>4608191
Hm. Seems when I open the image on mangadex itself the quality drastically decreases.
>>
File: 17294232.png (1.25 MB, 1920x1080)
1.25 MB PNG
>>4608192
I didnt really factor the novel into it, but that line always seemed like a retrocactive realisation to me. Far less "This is when I fell in love" and more "I probably liked you all along". The explicit moment where she fell though I feel, would have to be separate. We know already that by the time of the graduation live she was head over heels for Kaguya, as the exchange with Yachiyo there proves. And I genuinely don't like the interpretation that Iroha fell in love with 10 year old Kaguya on the first night she could talk. There is just no indication of this at all.
So it would have be somewhere inbetween. And the movie's visual language is only giving me so many moments.

I think the absolute earliest possible scene where I can see Iroha developing genuine attraction to Kaguya is when she first plays the keyboard for her and Kaguya wants to drag her into doing music together. That was the first true heart to heart they had.
>>
>>4608196
Sorry anon it's the middle of the night for me so I probably shouldn't be posting, but I didn't mean to say she was feeling romantic love for the young Kaguya, just that she was feeling love on some level all along. The concert performance with Yachiyo and Kaguya is probably a reasonable time to imagine her starting to lean toward romantic feelings. Definitely by the fireworks scene. It'd be interesting to know when that flashback we got recently where she's playing video games with Kaguya leaning against her chest takes place within the timeline of the movie, because it seemed like a pretty casually intimate thing for them to be doing.
>>
>>4608197
Casual intimacy is a pervsive dynamic for IroKagu since very early on actually. From sleeping in the same futon together to Iroha holding Kaguya's hand when they first log into Tsukuyomi. Perhaps it is because Iroha jumped a few intimacy hurdles by raising Kaguya as a baby for 2 days. Later on they do their "special handsign" together without much hesitation in the real world too. By the time of their shared appartment they casually hug and Kaguya still insists on sleeping with Iroha despite having separate rooms (this is the newly wed life stage of their relationship to me).

So that flashback from Kaguya Meshi chapter 0 probably takes place during the Yachiyo Cup. IroKagu are too chilld for the Lunarians to have set their ultimatum already, yet they are close enough to RokaMami to stay over. The Yachiyo Cup had many scenes in the montage that showed Kaguya befriending Roka and Mami properly, even hanging out with them without Iroha's presence.
>>
>when you raise your girlfriend from when she's a baby and also get to be with her when she's old
Very strange relationship honestly.
>>
>>4608255
She was a baby for 1 1/2 days. Iroha did not see her actually grow up over a long time, so from her perspective it's basically like the baby and her girlfriend are two different beings. The same would have gone for Yachiyo if Iroha had not experienced her 8000 years firsthand via memory transfer.
>>
File: HTPSLyPa0AE7Oc_.jpg (1.56 MB, 2591x3624)
1.56 MB JPG
I really would have liked to see more interactions between young Kaguya and FUSHI. I think FUSHI desperately wanted to be close to her, but it just had to hold back with all its might. And now it's too late... they will never meet again. There is only Yachiyo now.
>>
>>4608255
A couple of days doesn't exactly constitute raising, and Kaguya had a job on the moon so she wasn't even a real baby, just a person who got stuck in a baby form temporarily.
>>
>>4608289
Well we have a chance to see a few more in flashback format in Meshi. Not sure if they will show that though, I feel Fushi gets overlooked a bit.
>>
File: HTDkHGIaUAABlGv.jpg (300 KB, 2048x1423)
300 KB JPG
>>4608293
It's so sad, because FUSHI is probably the most important plot device in the whole movie. It literally was the reason Kaguya could interact with people for 8000 years and it was also the reason Iroha found Yachiyo and could see her memories. FUSHI is so vital to the happy ending of the movie, yet it's kinda treated like a gag character.
Whenever I read that excerpt in the Guidebook about how FUSHI is acting standoffish so it wouldn't cry all the time I get teary eyed myself...

Rather than wasting time making a separate Yachiyo body for no reason, Iroha should make a physical body for FUSHI. Preferably a loli.
>>
>>4608294
I agree they should give Fushi a body. Personally I imagine it being some kind of robot animal since Fushi chooses to use an animal avatar in Tsukuyomi and it was originally a pet dog, but without the ability to programmatically manipulate stuff in Tsukuyomi maybe it would want opposable thumbs.

I would prefer FUSHI being elevated from pet to surrogate daughter. There were many gags early on about how InuDOGE was born from IroKagu (Iroha's money + Kaguya's programming lol).

I wonder, does the Ray MV automatically play after the BD movie version too like it does on Netflix now? I havent downloaded it because 80GB for one movie is a bit much space.

A little bit shading makes all the difference. Yachiyo isnt that flat tho

Not with the version I downloaded. The only difference I noticed is that the fakeout ending is the credits instead of the netflix preview thing.
>>
>>4608507
That's unfortunate. You would want the BD version to be the ultimate experience with everything included. They should honestly have put all the music videos on it, not just the IroKagu ver. of Reply.

>>
>>4608728
She really made a plain black t-shirt look so good.
>>
That was really good.

>>4608734
This is one of the few times where I've seen this kind of line come across as authentic. In most works it feels like a cynical way to dismiss any hints of romance, but here it feels like they instead want to avoid dismissing any part of their relationship: romance, friendship, being mother figures to one another. They don't even shy away from depicting the physical attraction here (like in >>4608684 and >>4608728)
>>
>>4608754
I can't believe we got confirmation that Iroha has a kink for black T-shirt Yaccho. Absolutely phenomenal.
>>
>>4608774
I thought the same thing. IroKagu's relationship is ACTUALLY complex. They don't even remotely avoid the fact that they are in love or that they are basically a life logn couple, but there are so many extra layers that cannot be put into words. Unlike those subtext yuri works where the "no lables" thing is a cowardly avoidance of having to actually confront what is happening, IroKagu are way beyond any shadow of a doubt. Romantic confessions, casual sexual attraction, vows to spend their lives together and make each other happy... they have openly taken every step.

I also think this is a jab at Momii specifically though who probably expects rigid relationship dynamics that fit into her worldview. And that is simply not happening with the alien princess from the moon in a bioroid body and the genius scientist who changes the world over and over with her discoveries.
>>
>>4608676
So right off the bat this is probably the biggest bombshell for several reasons. The anon who said that Iroha is making a YC type body was correct.
BUT
And this is a big BUT
These are NOT seperate entities. They confirm here again what the official art already implied. Parallel Processing. Kaguya is controlling both of these versions of herself at the same time. She is using Yachiyo's cloning ability to achieve this. Their thoughts are literally linked, but because of their different bodies they have natural inclinations to act a bit differently, because physicality does lead to different experience.

This still ostensibly means Kaguya is roleplaying as two people. They obiously hammed it up for the commentary, which is already very meta, but essentially, these "two" would know each others thoughts and not actually see each other as two separate entities.
I love how Iroha calls it "occult" because of how pseudo-sciency this is. lol

As for why Iroha is making a Yachiyo body... it's a bit hard to follow. Is it because she just really wants Yachiyo's presence to be permanent, with the actual Kaguya in control instead of the AI mode they created? Or is it just so Kaguya can play at being Yachiyo whenever she wants? As Kaguya's soul from the ship is inside the Kaguyabot already, YC body will always just be a remote controlled copy, not her real self.
>>
People talk about maximalism in different genres, but I feel like that term applies to this movie honestly. It's incredibly dense already (in both content and visuals) but then you have all the stuff from this commentary. The only thing I could maybe see improved is I felt some of the action scenes were a bit hard to follow. The movie is definitely on the more difficult side to watch with subs, though it doesn't help that Netflix's subs are pretty poor in terms of design. There's a lot of text on screen that they don't even bother translating (or only translate it partially). Hopefully we eventually get better subs.
>>4608879
>in a bioroid body
So how biologically accurate did Iroha make Kaguya's new body to her old one? Did she even have anything to go by from when they were living together?
>>
>>4608887
It's depth also comes from its multimedia roots. Every song has double meanings, depth and purpose, especially the full versions. The Light Novel adds so much extra context. The spin-off manga fleshes out the post ending world too. It almost feels like the movie itself is perfectly contained but every bit added to it somehow makes it greater retroactively.
>subs are hard to follow
While there is some text that isnt translated I think the overall dialogue is perfectly executed. aas long as you pick the correct English subtitle track. Dont use the subs for the English dub.
>How biologically accurate is Kagubot?
Well for one she can actually process food and she is mortal now, so it would have either a decaying process or some kind of aging with a bilogical timer. Or perhaps she doesnt age, but can at least die, maybe choosing her moment to go.
She has all 6 senses. She can feel tired and needs sleep (although this was true even foe virtual Yachiyo).
I am fairly confident that with Iroha's meticulous nature and erotic mind she also implementes fully functional genitals. Though we probably wont get confirmation on that for some obvious reasons.
>>
>>4608888
>She has all 6 senses
Spider sense too?
>>
>>4608890
Balance is actually scientifically humanity's sxith sense. It was never 5 senses.
>>
>>4608726
I think it's absolutely bonkers that Lunarians apparently have it burned into their DNA that they cant mess with time paradoxes. Feels like a bit or an overcorrection to explain why Yachiyo absolutely did not try to change anything, even tho the normal explanation that it would create a worse paradox is more than enough.
>>
>>4608707
>Even though our feelings were mutual
It's so nice to have this callback to the LN. We never got Yachiyo'a realization in the movie.
>>
>>4608694
The way Yachiyo talks about her Kaguya self really has a level of narcissism to it, even if she is doing it more in self-deprecation. I think those selfcest artists may have some leverage actually...

Is Hime supposed to be the head honcho in the middle? Like the "proper" moon princess as opposed to Kaguya who is a rebellious brat?
>>
>>4608971
I think Hime is mentioned in the light novel. She helped her make the spaceship there. The fact that she also hated living on the moon wasnt mentioned though.
>>
Can we acknowledge how wild it is that Kaugya INVENTED time travel? Everyone thought that Lunarians just naturally had tech that advanced, because of how casual Yachiyo was about it, but... kaguya is the level of genius who can build a true time travel capable space ship in a super advanced race that can't do that.
People go on about how absurd Iroha is, but Kaguya is a genius in her own regard.

This also helps make the asteroid crash less contrived. Like Kaguya says in the commentary, this was a slipshod completely new technology that was not even guaranteed to work properly and so stuff like predictive flight paths and stuff probably didn't even get factored in when she launched. She just assumed she would travel back in time before anything could get between her and Earth.

Apparently it's the "wind up" copy of herself that she made that was shown in Yachiyo's recap.
Kaguya basically discovered her cloning ability there and worked with herself to develop the space ship and time travel.

Kinda of sucks though to imagine that that copy stayed behind on the moon forever though...
>>
>>4609309
It's funny to imagine all the other lunarians were fooled into thinking it's her for eternity.
>>
>>4609341
I mean... it's like the Yachiyo clones. It's actually her. Though this seems eithe rmore rudimentary or like a true consciousness split.

It's crazy to me that this artist still insists on the height gape that doesnt exist.
>>
>>4609382
I know that this is an autistic nitpick but it bothers me when anime completely ignores how height works in real life and just makes anyone over 18 get taller. Most girls stop getting taller around 15. Iroha is 17. It would be highly unusual for her to gain any significant height during the timeskip.
>>
>>4609402
Nah, most people keep growing till 20 and growth spurts can happen all the way untol 25. But we know that Iroha aged up Kaguya's body to that of an adult because they are the same height and proportions in all post-time skip scenes and manga appearances.

I'm talking about statistics--height gain after 15 for females is generally negligible. You can see the growth curve in picrel.
>The average female growth rate decays off to zero at about 15 or 16 years, whereas the average male curve continues for approximately 3 more years, going to zero at about 18−19, although there is limited research to suggest minor height growth after the age of 19 in males.[17]
>>
>>4609411
Some random graph from 2000 for an unspecified country really doesn't impress me anon. Even if this average was accurate, which it is not, it is just that: An Average. I have seen lcountless examples in real life. That stupid graph acts like women above 175cm dont even exist too. That's how stupid it is to go by very limited medians. You know how in Asian nations the average is in thr 150s, while Scandinavian averages are in the 170s? That also means the extremes go much higher or lower there. The same goes for growth spurts.

I'm not really sure we're disagreeing with each other anon? I said it would be highly unusual for Iroha to have any significant change in height, as in, statistically improbable. Like the way that artist drew Iroha next to Kaguya, she looked to be 12+ inches taller than she was at 17.

> This study evaluates epiphyseal fusion of the distal tibia and fibula in 570 European-, African-, and Mexican-American children and young adults. Radiographs of 270 females aged 9 to 17 and 300 males aged 11 to 20 were analyzed to assess the range of variation of epiphyseal fusion at each age. Results indicate that complete fusion in females occurs as early as 12 years in the distal tibia and fibula. All females demonstrated complete fusion by 16 years with no significant differences between ancestral groups.
(Epiphyseal fusion = growth plate closure. This is not specific to Japanese women and there are other growth plates to consider, but still interesting data.)

>I have seen lcountless examples in real life.
That's cool, I've never met a woman irl who got taller than like an inch after teenage years, so I'm interested. How many inches or cm did they gain?

>>
>>4609402
It's an artistic convention, just like how in ancient Egyptian art the pharoh is drawn giant compared to other people. A 27 year old occupies a much different place in the social hierarchy than a 27 year old, so naturally she must be depicted as taller. Either that or Japanese artists learned biology from >>4609408.

>>4609509
NTA but guessing she's asking if it depicts Kaguya and Yachiyo as separate ("split") entities.
>>
>>4609513
>It's an artistic convention, just like how in ancient Egyptian art the pharoh is drawn giant compared to other people
Yeah I understand. They (character designers) want to represent the transition from teenage to adult so they just make their characters a whole head taller sometimes and call it a day. But it really gets my autism going.

I got a bluray rip and they changed the fake out credits to be normal looking credits instead of looking like Netflix. So can we take this as confirmation that Kaguya actually met Momiji now? Obviously Momiji knows about Kaguya, because Iroha devoted her whole life to making her a body and all and she asked what their relationship is, but this is the first time its hinted at that they actually know each other.

I suppose the "That's the worst" part is how Kaguya claims the appartment as hers despite Iroha paying for it now lol

I noticed that another thing that I saw in other summaries of the commentary also didnt appear in this transcirpt, mainly the exchange that proves it wasn't Yachiyo guiding Kaguya through the telephone lines.
>>

The "that's the worst" was just Iroha's line within the movie where she complained about all the stuff Kaguya did before she gets the cash transfer and breaks down crying, not the commentary track, right?
