Given the choice between f2p+mtx or a sub, the sub is the better decision. F2p always creeps into p2w where there's a unspoken minimum buy-in anyway unless you just want to be fodder for everyone else. I'd guess they lock purple and higher shields and the better pvp guns into the cash shop. Bungie kind of fucked themselves with the $40 pricetag tho. Maybe re-release the game as a $40 campaign plus Rook and an optional $8/month sub for duos/trios/comp.
