Dark crusade style campaign and last stand confirmed, the animations still look clunky as fuck though, feels like devs are trying hard but aren't good enough to do it, I'm still fairly hopeful though
>>
I'm coping that all the trailers have been premade like a year ago and are only now released, as bits and pieces of them have been seen before. So they don't show the progress on the animations, if there is any

Relic shitters aren't developing this game, the IP went to the studio that made iron harvest after the dow3 flop.
>>

Not the same dev, smaller studio, not triple A. If it's gonna suck, it's gonna be for different reasons
>>
>announcing multiple DLCs/expansions years into the future before the game is even out
>>
>>739316216
They were being pestered about that shit anyway, nobody wants a dow game with less factions that dow 1, and one of the reasons dow 3 flopped is because they only had SM, orks and eldar, and never added more

those people are actually the worst, warhammer is the only hobby where secondaries are actively trying to save the hobbies from primaries
>>
>>739316216
That's how it works these days, not that it matters much, if it flops like dow3 and homeworld 3 the entire roadmap fizzles in a month and they will just abandon the game, we'll see what happens, still need to see proper gameplay.
>>
It still looks mid, would wait for a Steam sale for this one

Going to be the Concord of modern 40k games
>>
The game looks trash and they already have a roadmap, KWAB
>>
>>739315109
>60 euro for base game
>90 for base + dlc
This alone will kill the game. Doesn't matter if it's at least somewhat as good as DoW1, it's too expensive for a RTS in 2026.
>>
>>739317746
agree, if it's good I'll just buy it on keysites for 40 bucks or something
>>
I'm extremely shit at RTS, should I start with 1 or 3 to try and get in the mindset for playing this one?
>>
>>739318313
3 is a MOBA

Buy DOW Definitive Edition and come back after beating all campaigns on Hard difficulty
>>
The DLC and roadmap is a disaster, they should delay this game for an entire year and even release it on mid 2028
>>
The 'First new faxction coming early 2027' becomes even less appealing qhen you realize it's just going to be fucking Dark Angels getting their bespoke units.
>>
>>739318313
Play 1 and 2, they are extremely different games, 1 is a more classic rts that is squad based, larger scale (it has some amazing mods to have fun though, like unification mod), 2 is more similar to company of heroes and the sp is more like a rpg, both are good on their own, skip 3 entirely.
Supposedly dow4 goes back to the roots of the first game, I would still suggest playing the campaigns of each, multiplayer scene is also active if you are into that but everyone has been playing them for 20 years so you will get roflstomped.
>>
>>739316425
DoW3 had IG and Chaos NPC units and teased Necrons in the ending, but unsurprisingly any DLC plans got shafted when they abandoned the game.
>>

>>
>>739315109
I saw a dev preview and it had a bald, fat, probably on the spectrum German dude and in that moment i knew the game would be good
>>
>>739318627
DoW3 was fundamentally designed as a game nobody asked for and nobody wanted, there was no fixing it without starting from scratch. I don't think DoW4 is poisoned in the same way, nothing that can't be fixed or polished, whether they have the competence to deliver is to be seen
>>
>>739316216
yep. huge red flag.
>>
DLC announced before release means it's cut to sell back to you

>>
Even if this game is successful somehow, i can tell that one new faction per dlc instead of two from the first game is going to hurt, especially considering they will most likely go Chaos and Eldar next.
>>

>>
>>739320875
>especially considering they will most likely go Chaos and Eldar next.
Lol no, it's Guard or Dark Angels. Most likely Dark Angels. Both already have assets in game, and Dark Angels would be absurdly easy to make their unique units as a 'new' release.
Chaos is late 2027 at the earliest. Eldar are never happening.
>>

Iron Harvest animations where good. Devs said they have some in house AI that is supposed to make the animations sync and transition better and feel more dynamic. I'm a bit cautious about it because yes, it does look a bit clunky.

They're really trying hard to replace the Blood Ravens in their own franchise.
>>
>>739316216
They had to prove they are not surrendering to CA and TW40K
>>
>>739321089
You'd think they'd split each faction into 2 different subfactions with small overlaps
>SM: Blood Ravens (vanilla codex style combined arms army)/Dark Angels (unit specialist army)
>Orks: Bad Moonz (classic ork army with more focus on dakka)/Beast Snaggaz (raid focused cavalry army)
>Necrons: Royalists (vanilla slow tanky army)/Destroyer Cult (mobile glass cannon offensive army)
>Admech: Explorators (map control oriented army)/Ordo Reductor (combat focused army)
>>
>>739324376
Blood Ravens are tacticool as that's their lore gimmick so Phobos units. Dark Angels are heavy and knightly so Terminators and Bladeguard and melee
Orks have goffs and snaggas
>>
>>739316425
Wrong. No one wanted 'more' of DoW3, despite what the tasteless bottom-feeders insist. From day one they were gloating about how all the 'moaners' would buy DoW3 anyway(they didn't, and still don't even when it's discounted -90%).
nuRelic were unbelievably arrogant, having had a whole year since they showed the terrible gameplay off and getting the feedback on it to make changes, instead they doubled-down. They and Blackbird deserve to go bust forever.
>>
>IGN: The story prologue returns to Aurelia, which I think is seared into my memory as it will be for many Dawn of War fans. Why did you decide that was the right place to go back to for the prologue?
>Jan Theysen: When we announced that Dawn of War IV, you're not only playing the Blood Ravens, but also the Dark Angels, people were excited about the Dark Angels, but also, ‘Oh, why can't I play more of the Blood Ravens?’ And basically we said, ‘Okay, for everybody who's really all about Blood Ravens, we offer them just more Blood Ravens.’ And also answer maybe some of the questions people will have when they play the main game, which is basically, okay, what is with the rest of the chapter? Where is everybody? This kind of thing. And so we basically said, ‘Okay, let's make this the prologue to the main game that is all about the Blood Ravens.’ And that is the starting point, and then Aurelia came out of that.

Lmao
>>
>>739324508
Raven Guard are the sneaky gitz and each codex chapter has Phobos equipped Vanguard companies, and the Blood Ravens' gimmick is having more Librarians than normal due to geneseed mutations, but I'd bet they'll conveniently forget about it again outside supplementary content.
>>
>>739324791
I'm still not sure why we ever have the dark angels, they should've been a dlc campaign or some shit, since they are basically there to steal the spotlight.
>>
>>739324843
Blood Ravens being just psykers is a retarded flanderization and they are never described like this. Honestly can't even blame it on secondaries since those guys apparently played DoW games. Has to be a tertiary meme.

Grey Knights are the loyalist psyker focused chapter, with actually unique model range to reflect this

Blood Ravens are the most tacticool chapter save for Raptors. Only actual difference being using Librarians to PREDICT ENEMY MOVEMENT AND DEVISE PERFECT TACTICS (savescum).
This is literally how Blood Ravens fight https://youtu.be/zWJIvlAEy-4?si=HD1uJx7cE8BcOHyw&t=137

Every description of their combat doctrine and their playstyle in DoW games reflects this. In one of older codexes they are even described as training their Tactical and Devastator Squads in stealth.

Which is why Phobos will be their focus in DoW4
>>
>>739325562
Different playstyle. Every faction has essentially two playstyles. In Marine case it's Tacticool (in campaign represented as Blood Ravens with Cyrus) and Knightly (in campaign represented by Dark Angels)

Yeah, 4 has this ugly style that tries to evoke the actual tabletop models. The original did that gimmick better with proportions and colors. 4 makes all the characters and weapons feel like small soldiers miniatures came to life. 2 decided to try and make it more detailed and realistic, which I think they pulled off. 3 was like an impossibly high budget cartoony chinese mobile game, hideous yet undeniably high-effort.

I did a playthrough of it a couple months back, it still kinda plays mostly similarly to the originals in terms of builds, but you have more options to choose from and commander equipment is way less restricted, meaning that the other squadmates can equip iron halos, banners etc. and each commander equipment type grants stats with different distributions.
You also missed out a gimmick used in the modded vanilla game where you can call in a support squad of generic infantry once per mission that can't be killed and you can choose their loadout. It does comes back in CR in the best possible way.

Donating some armor like the chaplain armor will just change it to a different cosmetic model, while some other armors can be exchanged to swap between stats that benefit ranged or melee. A lot of the accessories and armors have also been rebalanced, helmets and armors have various archetypes like "Assault" that boosts melee skill, melee damage etc or "Devastator" that boosts range and ranged damage etc.

As for builds, some abilities have been rebalanced and shifted around, but it'll mostly end up similarly to unmodded. Equips also provide a ton of bonus points so you don't have to completely fill up trees if you can compensate, and IIRC you get a few more opportunities to respec. It's hard to brick your playthrough unless you're doing a Primarch run where you're basically forced to build into cheese (pic related was on Captain before Ulkair).

Gamers are such shit eating slop lovers that they've grown accustom to judging games not on the state they release in but on the state they promise to be in 3 years down the road. You see this everywhere to the point content being withheld from release to be sold later as DLC is celebrated by some because it "extends the life of the game".
Look at reactions to the 40K Total War, everyone accepts as a matter of fact it will be garbage and bare bones on release but the mentality is "let them cook, this will be great $300 of DLC later!"
