Baby Bowser and Bowser Jr. are two different characters. In Yoshi’s Island, you fight Baby Bowser (who is assumed to grow up to be King Bowser just like Baby Mario grows up to be the main Mario). This new game is saying Baby Bowser’s nanny Kamek was trapped in “Yoshi’s Island book” for years, so when he sees Bowser Jr. he doesn’t believe it’s his young master. He then finds Baby Bowser all grown up to be the true Bowser and realizes he has a kid now.

But this also means that the Kamek in every other game since Yoshi’s Island wasn’t the “real” one or some shit.

It was pretty clear that Kamek in all the games where he speaks as the right hand man is the Yoshi’s island one, they clearly just wanted to make a tragic story without thinking if it made sense just like Pauline’s plot in DK

All this means is that Kamek disappeared at some point while Bowser was Jr's age and came back after Jr's establishment. This slots in nicely before New Soup Wii, since that's the first time Kamek interacted with adult Mario and Co AND it was Jr's second time as a major miniboss.

Wizakoopa/Kamek is the only hiccup, as >>739327258 points out. But that's not the end of the world, since SMRPG doesn't really have anything tying it anywhere in particular in the timeline other than a lack of Jr., but the Koopalings were MIA for it too. Nothing odd about Jr. missing a kidnapping or two. Also, retranslations aren't canon. Fuck Treehouse.

NoE were the ones who most handled the SMRPG remake (in collaboration with Localsoft) though NoA did do the Canadian French and Latin American Spanish localizations after NoE handed them the Euro scripts. I think the tranalation in the main game is fine. The changes are all seamless and make sense. Feels like what the Super NES version would've been with maybe another month of time. The part I don't like is the extra content (postgame, monster bios, scrapbook etc). Something about it reads wrong. It feels like the translator who did the new content and the proofreader of the existing text were different people who worked independently. The character "voices" just have this different tone/vibe from the main game... Anyone else agree?
