I think it's also pretty damning evidence that the regular ending will be unsatisfying to some extent, because it would serve as an incentive to go back and look for a different ending once the game is actually finished sometime this century. Not that the weird route will necessarily be any better, since Spamton made it clear that it's not ending well, but it might come down to essentially choosing which character(s) you want to save between the two endings, and I can see people arguing that the weird route's end is superior for that alone.
