You need loss. I don't mean full loot. It has its place. Full loot PvP servers would probably be popular, because PvP games are by far the most popular and hours played games. But what would require millions, if not billions, of resources is requiring materials for durability repairs. People want to live in a world. Gathering, crafting, trading, and PvEing for resources and items is extremely important to vary activities. Gold repairs just makes everything permanent. A linear treadmill. Where you can see through the world because the only thing that matters is pushing your linear ilvl. If resources are important, people can fight to control zones. People can corner markets and look for the crafters with the best recipes. You need economy, so you need material durability repairs. You can also have much more power (size, speed, and power rivaling comics) if you can only keep it by staying alive or being rich. It's a win-win. Material repairs durability is central to a good MMO.
When I see a slop image and a wall of text I always assume the text is by an LLM and I don't read it.

Where's a new Amazon MMO?

I like the OP pic. Even if it's AI, it's content we wouldn't otherwise have.
I want a SWG remake.
Isn't risk:reward at least one thing we all agree on and that developers can make to please everybody? The economy needs a reason to exist, so loss bridges low skill and high skill playstyles with correlative power. And anyone can eventually buy their favorite playstyle because there are more ways to make items/money than dungeons and raids saturating the market. People obviously like Souls, and Rust and Minecraft are really popular. Risk:reward is the one thing MMOs need, balancing instant gratification (like good combat) and lasting rewards (like social identity).
I hope Riot's MMO isn't a themepark.
>>739338281there's nothing to argue. you post the same bullshit with the same images and refuse to have any actual conversation about your retarded ideas.
>>739347689that shit is never releasing. MMOs are dead. they're a relic of the past.it also doesn't help that everybody has a different definition of MMO. it's not something like RTS or RPG or MOBA or FPS where you can point to something specific that actually defines the genre. every retard has their own misinterpretation of what the game is.
just copy the wilderness from runescape
How did the French manage to make the best MMORPG of 2026?
>MMO thread>it's just faggots who have only played WoW like how the RTS general is just faggots who only play supcom
>>739345891Who is “we”? Game dev wants to maximize profit which means maximizing player base which means reducing challenge and difficulty to the sweet spot which often ruins the game for any(en willing to participate in this discussion.
>>739337165>>739338281>SAAAAR WHY YOU SAY THAT LIE??? DELETE THIS LIES SAARRRRRRRR
>>739336919>MMOs need to be multi-faceted positive feedback loops without all the frayed or loose wires/widgets sticking out doing nothing and going nowhere unlike how all MMOs sadly do itYou could've just saved yourself all that effort. Anyone who understands mechanical circuits can figure this out with a little time and a healthy distancing from their personal feelings.
>>739338281Then actually post something new or format it differently. Otherwise you just sound like a copy pasta slop bot, which removes our desire to interact meaningfully since we'd be talking to a bot not a person.
>AI op images>the rest are AI images
>>739345891Any game that has a player-run economy will inevitably become linked with a real-world economy. Farming shit in-game will never be worthwhile for any first-worlder who has a job. They'll either decide to use gold-buying services or simply stop playing. This shit only managed to work back in the day because most players were unemployed teens and adults. And even then, it often did not work the way you describe.
