So many choices makes me feel they don't get the setting. They put a mage into the outer ring of the old camp because they say they want players to be able to learn magic earlier. But the mages aren't prisoners, they would never hang out with common scum and teach them magic. They're stuck in the castle barely tolerated. Getting into the castle to give them your letter is a big motivation in the original game. The remake sacrifices believability for convenience.
