Communists know only two arguments, falsely equating croneyism with capitalisms and the landlord boogeyman. Makes one wonder if communism just attracts childlike individuals or if it’s inherently a childlike ideology at its roots. Looking at Marx’ life, it’s probably the latter.

>seconds to minutes of creaking and thuds
That didn't necessarily happen. There were loud bangs on previous dives which already indicated that the laminated layers were separating. Composite materials like that often fail catastrophically without any warning like a buckling steel beam would etc. precisely because they're much less flexible.

The XBox controller was the least of the sub's problems honestly. The entire thing was badly designed because he fired all his engineers who wanted to actually build the sub properly and replaced them with a bunch of brown yes-people who wouldn't tell him that his sub was just death trap.
The biggest surprise is that it somehow managed to make at least one trip before that.
>>
>>739420101
There's no tl;dr, go watch a documentary, there are always a bunch of very well documented videos about everything that went wrong with the company.

But to keep it short, the Logitech controller was just the cherry on top, the sub was built using carbon fiber which degrades after several excurtions, they never bothered to properly maintain it, the CEO fired everyone who told him it was a terrible idea, they would leave it outside in the equivalent of a parking lot exposed to the elements and on the day of the final dive, they literally placed it on a small boat and carried it by rope all the way to the diving point. It was one disaster after another.
>>

Listening to his lack of respect for safety or doing things right it's clear he was a daredevil and got off on getting as close to death as possible. I think he truly enjoyed getting inside untested designs and not knowing what will happen.

Which is fine I guess if you're a super rich sob and getting in subs solo but he wasn't that rich and needed tourists to pay for his adventures.

>they were trying to make a passenger friendly submarine
The main focus was economics = the main guy being cheap shit and trying to cut corners so he can grab bigger profits form dumb rich thrill seekers.
He specifically build the submarine from carbon fiber so it's light, can be transported and deployed from much smaller cheaper ship making the trip 'more affordable'.
There are other factors like lighter sub = much easier to maintain neutral buoyancy but it all ties to lighter = cheaper theme.

I honestly can't really fathom a way to make visiting the titanic a profitable venture unless you had actual alien/magical technology. If you do shit by the book, shit's fucking expensive because your sub is heavy as fuck, can only fit a few people at once, and you'd need a specialized mothership to provide support. And I don't think the consumer market to visiting the Titanic is really that big.
Even if the Titan didn't implode, somehow solved every single one of it's safety issues, you'd still be in the red due to all the overhead and support you'd need to go down there.
