>>739422639Speedrunners just fucking adore the N64. SM64, OoT, MK64, and Goldeneye are all huge. A big part of it is that the N64 was what a lot of these sad sacks grew up with. It also doesn't help that while there are tons of people speedrunning games, the big popular ones are the Zeldas, the Mario Karts, The Marios in general. Sure, other games are run, but if you're not competing against enough people, what's the point?Probably didn't hurt that until the GameCube, all the Nintendo systems used cartridges, so when the 'tard rage hit and they threw melties as kids (as well as nowdays), they could smash the console around a little and be less likely to break it than they would something with a disc drive.
