The model of a good idle gameNo I don't want to make googleplex cookies so I can do my 14th prestige to make cookies even faster. Idle games should be short little simple dopamine experiences. It has a narrative, it escalates, it ends. An intentionally endless quagmire is more like a business strategy to retain users.
>>739425734For me, the model was Armory & Machine. It had a simple, concise story, and beating it didn't require endless ascensions and resets. Instead, once you beat it, every time you kill the final boss adds a tiny x1.01 multiplier, up to 30 boss kills, so when you did prestige, you could replay the game at 1.30x speed. Beat it again, and the next run can be 1.60x speed, etc. You already beat the game, you're done, no reason to continue. But if you want to play again next year or try again now, here's a stacking bonus that makes it easier. As a result, you can eventually start making ammo and fuel productions faster than consumption, with better and better weapons, so it feels better to play. I loved that game. Shame Armory & Machine 2 died before it could leave early access, and double shame it was some always-online bullshit so there's no way to even try an api backup now that the server is down.
>>739425734Read a fucking book.
for me, it's dodecadragons, the peak of the genre

The Alkahistorian games, though the third one is a mess
>>739428361based, dodecadragons was amazing
>>739425734Embrace the tatoes.
>>739425734Never understood what people see in this game. It's genuinely one of the most boring idle games I've played.
