There are a billion mechanical things like wandmaking and other random shit you won't be able to track until you've played the game a ton like enemy attacks, but in general, you just have to take things slower; Like A LOT slower. Every point of health matters until you find a healing spell. Most god runs, you'll have a damage wand, a teleport+healing wand, a black hole wand, and whatever 4th wand you want. Work towards that, but if you're super new, just try and get to the end.

Also don't RUSH the holy mountain, getting enough loot each level is key. Especially past the coal mine, you WILL get filtered if you are barely getting by on scraps. Get at least a 500 gold on first level for instance, very doable

Get the lava lake tablet and get good kicking it.
This let you get away from situation where you get cornered by hp sponge mobs.
With it you should able to get through the first 3 levels, by then you should have a dps wand or tirgger/timer to explosion/other dangerous spell that let you kill most of the mobs one shots.
Then depends on if you have a teleport wand for travel and how powerful your wand/ perks are, you either explore to the side for orb hunt or just go down carefully

Just play the fucking game. Don't look at the wiki. Do not go to the discord. Don't read whatever dumb path people made up. Just get good.

You don't need to be doing any of the shit people are saying. Just get good. Learn how the enemies work. Learn how to build a variety of wands instead of going for one setup. Collect spells and prioritise maximising the probability of having a viable build. Plan to keep better wands. Plan to make disposable wands so you can pick up more and better wands later. Collapse the holy mountains and ignore all the collapse avoidance bullshit advice people give to waste your time. You'll spend more time actually playing the game and less time with boring backtracking if you simply collapse the holy mountains, and you'll learn what to prioritise in a better and more efficient way.

To actually beat the game you just have to play a bunch so you know how to deal with each enemy and not blow yourself up/get electrocuted
