I think every anime fan kid complained about art masters telling them to stop drawing anime but the reality of it, whether those masters meant it or not, is that drawing anime is not an issue, some of the greatest artists draw anime and do it beautifully with clear ample understanding of the art form- the issue is that those kids watch anime like this, see this hyper stylization that passed through layers upon layers upon layers of simulacra, and don't understand what it's meant to be stylizing and just copy is directly and it results in work that is inbred, formless and without intent
it's the drawing equivalent of when modern writers learn to write exclusively from satirical works without understanding what their satirizing and just end up making smarmy shit that is all irony but no basis for said irony
