I think if they do that then melee might need to be re-balanced. If you can follow up two melee attacks with a back swap to another two melee strikes, you're looking at pure instagib builds. I do hope they bring back the arm parts that had dual blades, which is appropriately balanced in that you can't swap anything into their hands.

I grew up playing the AC games and loving them despite their excessive jank. I fucking HATED AC:V, I didn't want to give AC:VI a chance because of it but the promise of another change got me curious. I remember buying the game. Playing the game, getting stuck on a few bosses for a while and then beating them after a short break... and then nothing. I had to look at my achievements to see if I beat it and apparently, I did.

It was a game so completely and utterly forgettable that I don't even remember beating it. I don't feel hate or joy for Armored Core anymore. I can't even tune into my nostalgia for the PSX and PS2 titles, all I feel is just feel apathy for it now.

I didn't really like the posture break in Sekiro because filling it basically killed the enemy and most bosses were way easier to posture break than beat normally. AC6 tones it way down to being a chance to hit them again, so it seemed more like it fit with everything else.

I played AC 2 and a little bit of 3 as a kid and I don't remember there ever being big fuck ass huge boss fights. There were a few set piece missions, but most "bosses" were just other AC's from what I remember. This was my biggest complaint about AC6. If I wanted to play a game that was just fight garbage to get to the next simon says moveset memorization boss fight, I'd go play Dark Souls or Elden Ring or fucking Monster Hunter. I'm not interested in Mecha boss rush, I'm interested in Armored Core. In that aspect, yes, soulsfags absolutely ruined AC. Overall though, I enjoyed the game. I'm not as butthurt about the turnspeeds and movement tech, it felt like natural progression for the series rather than a departure from. I was disappointed by the lack of customization as well as the overall look of AC's being too sleek and flowing rather than very harsh and angular like previous entries. I didn't mind the stagger, but most fights just turned into who could stagger first before dumping massive burst damage rather than being a sort of dance to try and track your opponent while also dodging them. The last complaint I had with the game is how limited you are in fighting range. The damage falloff of most guns and the ineffectiveness of long range weapons means pretty much every fight is a close range brawl and so the meta at launch was two shotguns and two cannons. I'm glad the game was made and I'd definitely play more, but it's pretty clear the direction they went with the game was just Dark Souls but with guns. I want to see less bosses, more parts and viability, and tone down stagger to bring back the dance feel from the old games.

It builds an entire strategic layer around positioning, spacing and prediction.
I never used the hard-lock in 6, outside of specific fights, because of the reduced tracking. If you can keep up with soft-lock only, you have the advantage.

I'm not even playing directly on my monitor, I'm streaming it from my gaming PC over Ethernet to my router and then over Wi-Fi to my phone in another room, with a DualSense linked to my phone all over the Moonlight app. I'm finding the game pretty easy all things considered. So far the only thing that gave me trouble was the damn stealth mission until I just said fuck it and rammed right through between the skyscrapers and snuck right in.

It does not kill positioning or movement because you are dealing with another player that will pull any bullshit necessary, whoever does it slightly better wins. Going Heavy in AC6 has 0 downsides and you've never played PvP if you honestly think that's the case. Nothing stops a tank from just assault boosting in your face 24/7 and you can't break the lock because hard lock exists. No. The game shifted its pacing in 4 & 5 to fast and already killed off half the die hard fan base. People who adapted loved the changes but the bullshit that the interface was good was the most ridiculous kind of copium to have sprouted.
Even old school JP only Gundam games worked out the interface and you had the arcade lock on that was miles better than the camera locking. 6 was refreshing the formula and did it really well since the story and delivery of it got way better.
