Every single thing I've seen from this game is a "sick reference bro!" I haven't heard a single thing about the plot, the gameplay, etc. Is this actually worth buying?
It's a compilation of movie plotlines and batman suits from the last 100 years, why would it not be about "references"?

Gotham is much busier than in the Arkham games, even Origins with its active crime scenes - there's way more of those in this.

i'm playing it for free. its fun, obviously not a masterpiece, like this board sometimes expects everything to be. but its a nice little fun distraction for a while, especially if you like batman a lot. also yes, a lot of the references are well done and not too in your face. the people who put them in have pretty good taste in media, actually. a lot of non-batman jokes.

The gameplay is basically Arkham City Lite, and they stripped out all the elements that made exploration in Lego games fun and rewarding. There are no unlockable secret abilities like score multipliers, one hit kill mode and such. Instead, the collectibles are either Arkham-like gadget upgrade points, decorations for the Batcave, and even the hidden red bricks are just gay color swaps for your costumes. Also, there are only 7 playable characters instead of the 100+ roster from previous games.
