A game that is part of a trusted series will have some built-in audience, but Dragon Age had long ago squandered its reputation and the goodwill of its fans, so thinking there would still be a massive audience built-in for DA was just hopelessly out of touch. DA was a damaged brand that needed to strongly appeal to those old fans and win them back, not take them for granted.
