zoomer thread
>>739502048it's both, but more the former than the latter. Games are an experience first and foremost, the more experiences you have the less any individual experience stands out. When was the last time you had a game mechanic that really blew your mind? A story beat that made you shocked and invested? Graphics or art style that truly gripped you?The more you see the harder it is to surprise you with something truly new, so it all starts to feel like repeats and cheap knock offs. That's how it goes for all media, and life in general, the older you get the more you see and less really stands out to you.
idk im 31 and im enjoying videogames more than ever

>>739502048Games are getting worse.Hope this helps.
>>739502048Both. Games are getting worse, but if that was the only case then you could just play older games. But as you get older you feel time is precious and you should be trying to explore more of life than just games. As a bonus, gaming as a whole is seemingly less interesting because of society and tech evolving. You have the convenience of the entire internet at your fingertips. It's easier to pick up your phone and endlessly browse through shit than go through another formulaic game. You might even tell yourself you'll learn something by browsing and thus be more productive than gaming, but you likely will watch more slop.As for society, people bond less through games now. Local multiplayer isn't really a thing anymore, especially for 30+ year old men. Online you get matched with randos and bots now. And finding an online community that isn't full of mentally ill weirdos roleplaying is almost impossible. Plus normies and corporations have adapted gaming "culture" as another means to push social agendas and advertise "gaming" chairs and "gaming" toilets which wears down your soul.so yeah, you're gay
>>739509760I don't agree with games being an obsolete format. Play and games have always existed and even some animals play simple games. The particular kind of game that was designed as a substitute for movies, etc. has to compete with tiktok now. That relatively small sebset of all games (which /v/ suspiciously has tunnel vision on) might be obsolete. Strategy games, platformers, roguelikes, puzzle games, and so on are doing fine. Also, a colleague of mine has a 19 year old son who is hosting a lan party so someone is still doing it.
>>739510331>Play and games have always existed and even some animals play simple gamesESL post? I can't understand you. Go away.
Nah, you're just getting old. We already had Pragmata, Monster Hunter Stories 3, Nioh 3 and REquiem this year. You should take a lot at what's coming out and try out some demos instead of just whining about "no gaems!"
