i genuinely do not know a single person playing this game or even hyped about it.

who is funding this shit
>>
>>739503897
Pat and Woolie were talking about this and apparently its just whales, like maybe 100k people putting entire paychecks into this game
>>
>>739503897
People who never leave their home id assume
>>
>>739503961
I've never funded scam citizen so that statement is incorrect
>>
>>739503961
it's people who don't like no man's sky
>>
>>739503791
But there is a game that people are playing.
>>
>>739504109
What game, its just a billion dollar scam machine
>>
>>739504159
yeah but you're getting scammed in space which is fun and cool
>>
>>739503897
rich indoctrinated losers
>>
>>739503897
Basically a cult of people going "It'll be good soon, for real!".
It's not true, but they'll never admit it.
Even if the technical problems were all sorted out and it wasn't a buggy piece of shit, there's just fuck all to do other than the largest collection of radiant quests and a usually broken mining minigame.
Lore's dogshit, visual design is ugly as shit for most things, and the factions are all retarded.
>>
>>739504462
I'd give money to Elon if I wanted to waste time with space
>>
>>739504035
thats a lot of fucking people
>>
wow the game must be really good with that amount of budget
>>
>>739504687
>[THIS IS WHAT AAA ACTUALLY BELIEVES]
>>
>>739503897
sunk cost whales mostly
>>
>>739503897
I know some guy that was enabled wealth by rich people and he is blowing his money on gacha and ultra expensive wine (10k/bottle) and invites random people from the street on a daily basis to his condo.
>>
>>739504159
AFAIK it's playable
>>
>>739503897
Anyone who plays or is hyped about it has learned to be quiet due to an unending stream of pushed back dates.
That said the pace of funding is still picking up. Today's funding (the tracker goes from 8PM est-8PM est) is at 7.7mil for today since they sold their most expensive .jpg to date, a 5k battlecruiser that's about 750m long with a shit ton of guns/missiles. That gets them to half of last years final total almost with 7 months and a week to go (and sq42 still looks like it'll release this year based off a variety article posted after it hit 1bil).
>>
they need to optimize this shit im sick of landing in area 18 with 30 fps when i have a 400 dollar CPU
>>
>>739503897
I know a couple of people at work who are invested in it. They're both huge fucking weirdos and I know each of them has donated thousands to chris's yacht fund
>>
>>739504925
Playable but at what cost
>>
>>739505025
you should sleep with them to get more information then tell us the information
>>
>>739505024
optimize? for what? will that get them another billion?
>>
>>739503897
I play SC with dual joysticks and pedals set up. i feel like people keep mistaking star citizen for a game when its just a space simulator.

graphically it mogs other space games like elite dangerous and x4. also ship interiors. but it indeed is a janky piece of shit where theres not much to do but just fly around, do missions, and explore pretty planets.
its not as technical as flying a cessna in microsoft flight sim though. its just arcadey flight model in a pretty space engine.
>>
>>739503791
I've been hearing about this game being in early access for what feels like a decade, but when I actually looked into it, I saw they had a bunch of subscriptions for shit like Ship insurance and that people mostly bought ships to fly around with with each other and show off. Isn't it pretty much an MMO?
>>
>>739505339
haven't the foggiest idea why they shoved DBOX integration in 4.8 when it was already looking like it'd be a bitch to get to live.
>>
>>739505468
It's an MMO with 2 caveats:
1: It's not very massive and there are very few social aspects to the game
2: They've only started adding group content in the last year~
>>
>>739505038
1bln dollars. It's funny as this is funded by rich people and it shows how stupid they are. They think if they shower someone with money he will create something beautiful. It should be a psychological issue on dsm 6.
>>739505339
What are missions? It looks great but I doubt you need a billion dollars to make it look good and it being janky is proof it'll be janky forever.

It is a money laundering business. When you buy a jpg of a ship for 50,000 it is covering a cocaine transaction. A 200,000 jpg is covering for a sex slave. Simple as.

I personally find it so fucking sad seeing people that do, people literally living off instant noodles just to reach number 1 ranking in gifted subs and all that shit.
I'm not an streamer nor I probably ever be, but I just don't think I'd ever be able to see someone do that and not ban that person from my channel so he doesn't do that, but I just know he'll just go to another streamer to dump his life earnings.
>>
>>739509056
Gta 5 total cost after all the years of development and rereleases is over a billion dollars, have in mind that 5 released on the ps3 and x360 era, went through the ps4 and xone era and 6 is just now going to release at almost the end of the ps5 and xsex era.

This explanation still doesn't make any sense.

1,000,000,000/100,000 is still $10,000 each, even if you convinced 100,000 people buy this thing it still doesn't make sense. I'm not going to believe more people bought this for $6,000 ship in an unfinished game than people bought the latest LEGO Batman game, it just makes zero fucking sense to me. Something else has to be going on here. There's some sort of fraud going on here, its the only explanation that makes sense to me. Like this game has to be a money laundering scheme for some drug cartel or some shit.
>>
>>739509820
there was a massive space sim drought when star citizen was announced and the target audience were working grown up nerds, who didn't know what to do with their money

it looked really cool on announcement and the first alpha gameplay was alright but this was over 10 years ago. They took forever to make any progress and eventually got lost in doing bullshit.
>>
>>739509820
it says 6.5m citiens
so 1,000,000,000 / 6,500,000 is $153 averaged
makes sense

Bro, you're retarded, or insane, or both. That's Slay the Spire 2 numbers and that game is $25. This would mean you'd have a game as big as Slay the Spire but people are okay with dropping $150 to play it. Make zero fucking sense, nothing about this make ANY fucking sense.

You're a moron who doesn't get it, we know. Even if 1% of that were whales who spent $10k on this it doesn't add up. Yet no one talks about this shit, but if you go by these numbers this game is GTAVI levels of big.
>>
>>739511128
it wouldn't surprise me if the median is pretty low. this whole thing is carried by whales with monthly subscriptions and ships for $10k

keep in mind that there's a grey market for limited time packages that people buy on new accounts(but don't use) for hundreds/thousands then try to sell "used" ship accounts for a markup. I'm not joking, look it up

You gotta realize it's 6.5mil people have put money into the game over the last 14 years now. GTA 5 has more unique players each month probably than SC has had since it was released.

>>739511403
I dont need to look it up I believe you. They did this FOMO from day 1 with their shitty lifetime insurance for ships. I'd like to know how many people are subscribed as well paying $10 or $20 each month.
>>
>>739511590
Why the IRS isn't all over this is beyond my comprehension.
>>
>>739509605
what did you get for your 40 dollars back in 2011? Was there anything to play or do, or was it just an IOU?
