I liked the overall structure and how interactive vlr was as a story, the journey was great, but tedious sometimes with characters overexplaining pretty basic stuff and the cutscenes of characters moving between rooms being unskippable. In addition, the ending was a disappointment, since it ended on a cliffhanger and logistics of the two twists Sigma's face and radical-9 making them not realize the gravity, but I care more about the first one are stupid.

Quark existed to trick the player into thinking Dio was actually a good guy telling the truth when he said Quark was a psycho as a plot twist.

I have to ask, did anyone actually think that? Even in the paths where Dio chooses ally, the characters for some reason hates him.

The plot is connected, so start with 999.

I just think its weird quark is considered a character when he is absent from the story for like 90% of it. I’m pretty sure you only do a single escape room with him. Sean felt like a plot device detached from the actual overarching story.

I honestly did for a few seconds, but since he actually knew Tenmyouji from before the game it seemed like too much of a farfetch.
Just a bizarre character all around with how he is MIA 90% of the time as the other anon said. Really just there for what seemed to be a weird attempt at a fake out + be a morality pet for Tenmyouji.

The biggest disappointment of ZTD was how much of a raging retard they made Sigma. I wasn't expecting him to be some 4D chess master or anything but considering he spent 40 years being a scientist between VLR and ZTD I was hoping he'd act somewhat intelligently or at least have some sort of plan. Instead all he does is scream his head off about how they're all going to die and get mad when no one believes him.

The first game was messy, but it had a lot of soul, some solid side routes, and a great buddy cop dynamic between Date and Aiba. The main thing letting it down was that Iris wasn't that compelling a character despite being the heroine of half the routes, and the usual Uchi 11th hour bullshit (although I found the twists less eggregious than some of his other VNs)
>>
>>739539602
Gnosia is basically single player Werewolf with an overarching plot that gets revealed as you win games under certain conditions.
If you go in expecting another game like 999 or VLR you'd be disappointed. I still like it on its own merits.

It’s weird playing with JP voices and them so obviously not saying what’s written. Like Dio says “Phi, Sigma, iku zo”, but the text is written as “All right lady and gentleman. I'm playing it right now after 999 but it feels so weird.
The controls are way worse (why'd they get rid of selecting items outside the menu and using the shoulder buttons to advance and back out of screens?) and the voice acting is jarring since Sigma doesn't have a voice either, the UI and graphics in general feel like they lack a layer of polish compared to 999.
The characters also have WAY more pointless non-sequitirs, like these guys feel like they're actually stupid, but maybe it's something I'll get used to.

Uchikoshi literally wrote one route of the game.
So the majority of of the shitty writing is kodaka's fault.
That said, each branching route was wrote by different writers, so of course it's all over the place.
HOWEVER, Kodaka DID write the prologue, and the "true ending route", which is the only good route in the game. Uchikoshi actually lost this time becuase his route was a nothing-burguer, but in general, I think Uchikoshi MOGS Kodaka by a mile. The only thing Kodaka does is write death games and elaborate murders, nothing else.
So get your facts checked.

the ab game is easily solveable.
if you can talk with others, and they can, all you have to do is agree for everyone to ally 3 times and leave. in the game they havr to do the first round before being ablr to know what exactly is going on, but they could still mathematically work it out so everyone gets at least 9, or just keep doing rounds.

you only need 1 person per group of 3. the other team autos to ally. so have just 3 people, 1 from each group, go in to vote. make it mutually understood that anyone eho chooses betray or tries anything funny like that will be ganged up on and killed by the other 8.
theres literally no reason to play a trust game.

IF they couldnt talk with one another in a true prisoners dilemma with that point system, just betray everytime. there is no penslty for doing so and the average is +1.5

Follow up on handing it in. There’s routes Kodaka co wrote and the only reason he did is explained here, they wouldn’t make it otherwise. The Cult wrote was solo by him because no one else was available lol. Seems kinda shitty to only intend to do his two routes and everyone else can handle the rest

Phi: It's got a lever... Try pulling it Sigma.
Sigma: Why should I-
Phi: It might be dangerous. Maybe it'll trigger an explosion? Or possibly it shocks you when you pull it? Who knows.
Sigma: Right. Then I have no choice. ...Did you really think I'd say that, you heartless monster?! There's nothing on either side, is there?
Phi: What's that supposed to mean?
Sigma: Ah, sorry for the confusion: I was talking about your breasts.
Phi: Guh... It's called dressing modestly! I'll have you know I'm a C cup!
Sigma: If you're a C cup, I'm packing twelve inches!
This scene gets called back to in ZTD. When D team is investigating the bunker and discovers the vent, Sigma suggests Phi goes to check it out. Phi says she wouldn't fit, and her boobs are Ds. Sigma remarks that they grew a whole size since the last time they talked about them, and Phi says she's a growing girl.
>>739565716
If Phi is a C cup, then Sigma has 12 inches. Phi is not a C cup, therefore Sigma does not have 12 inches. Uchikoshi clarifies how many inches Sigma has. There's nothing contradictory about this.

I think that's actually the least egregious part about it. Your brain will adjust to things being put into your body and treat it as normal after enough time as passed, dental implants eventually heal and feel natural. Sigma's body has had those mechanical implants for years, and as far as how jumping/SHIFT works it's just the consciousness that swaps timelines not the entire brain. If he were to touch them with his hands he would immediately notice something's up but without checking his body would already have adjusted to it well before the game started.

you don't GET IT, okay? japanese is BORING and DRY, western audiences would literally not play a single japanese game without our excellent word seasoning! (localization for the unenlightened)

I'd say that overall VLR has a decent translation and the way they localized GOL-M as a british bloke(kansaiben robot) was decent.
>>
>>739535350
They wanted to test the waters to see if people still liked escape room games, so they made a short midquel for an ongoing franchise that had most of the same fans as zero escape.
>>
>>739506415
I just did the Infirmary and I have to say if the whole game has this level of puzzle quality it might actually be better than 999 even if the dialog is insufferable.

All he needs to do is Re-release and port the games he already made, nothing else.
Pretty funny how another Japanese guy "predicted the future" and made escape rooms "real" a decade ago.
A Virtue Last Reward game in VR could be cool though.

I did, but I got stuck on the final time lock at 17:00.
I would have finished, but the "choice" system is complete bullshit, I followed a fucking guide and I still couldn't unlock it.
It's a fucking shame because it was a genuinely good VN.

I don’t think so considering he specifically went out of his way to not do what Kodaka wanted him to do in the game and added a true ending when Kodaka wanted every ending to be able to be a true ending for someone but also drunkenly attacked him one time.

Any hundred line interested I’ve got the most behind the scenes knowledge. Here’s Kodaka saying he always thought multiple routes led to a weaker story and decided what if all the routes were the best routes and asked Uchi to do it for him. For some reason that really rubs me the wrong way
>>
>>739561052
Game theorists never account for the indomitable human spirit/Me cheating/Me screaming "RAPE! RAPE! THIS GUY IS RAPING PEOPLE!" to intimidate the other guy.

Also it is morally correct to instantly kill anyone who proposes a theoretical conundrum in which someone else might be hurt: thus preventing them proposing this to other people who then might make a 3-game series where tons of people die just because of it.

The other anon is right, having played tons of werewolf type games it's not all that good. It gets repetitive really quickly and will just boil down to grinding stats and fishing for event procs. It's a decent idea but its execution is really lacking. Which is shame, because it has some really nice scenes and overarching story.
