>metal gear>splinter cellhow come hitman is never in the discussion of best stealth games?
The games weren't actually good until Blood Money
>>739514071MGS is a shitty Kojima movie series, not stealth games. Also Thief is the best, everyone knows this. No one has topped it ever and it still gets fan missions.
>>739514071Because you throw suitcases at niggas
>>739514071Because hitman is the only actual stealth game. The other two are hide-n-sneed faggotry.
>>739514190Well hitman has more good games than Metal Gear and Splinter Cell together nowadays.
>>739514190BUT I PLAYED HITMAN 2 WHEN I WAS 12 YEARS OLD ITS THE BEST OKAY
>>739514280what is hitman then?
>>739514071Because it's the only one that's still around so it's taken for granted.
>>739514190Contracts is absolutely a good game.t. played it for the first time in 2021 and therefore has no nostalgia for it
>>739514071Hitman is incredibly dry, so everyone just doesn't feel the urge to talk about it. It's without soul and I don't just mean WOA.
Hitman games are boring sanbox games for people who probably enjoyed terrible games like MGSV and Zelda BOTW. All the Splinter Cell games are better as they are linear structured games and so are the older MGS games.
I only played Codename 47, Silent Assassin (both of which I enjoyed) and Absolution (which I hated), should I>play Contracts and Blood Money>play modern HITMAN?
>>739514071Hitman isn't really a stealth game, it's more of a puzzle game with light stealth mechanics
>>739515147Contracts and Blood Money
>hitmanactually cool game but its far from stealth in the traditional sense >metal gearshitpost tier stealth gameplay and 60% movie, which isnt bad but its not exactly ideal>splinter cellhad its best shot at it but its filled with mediocre railroaded linear setpieces, places where you just walk through the dev intended path, and ways in which the game holds up terribly if you try doing unintended things
>>739515147It depends on what you hated about Absolution, HITMAN has Absolution's core gameplay just removing a lot of the bullshit, so if you liked arkham vision and coin tossing, you'll probably like HITMAN
>>739514071hitman is more of a puzzle game than a traditional stealth game
>>739514071Based on what exactly? When Freelancer dropped we had chained max post threads for weeks
>>739514280What the fuck do you think stealth is retard?
>>739514071People tend to associate 'stealth' with 'crouching in the dark' so Hitman's social stealth where you're walking around in plain sight tends to be overlooked same as AC1.>>739514190Bold of you to assume most people that talk about Splinter Cell have played either of the first two games.
>>739515463I hated disguises being useless even when it logically didn't make sense, as well as the missions that felt like they were meant to be overtly cinematic. There was a mission where you had to flee from soldiers while sneaking through interiors that were filled with heavy smoke. The soldiers had helmets and goggles that covered their entire face but if you took their disguise 47 wouldn't wear them and they could detect you from across the room anyway.
>>739514280This but without being a /v/ cumsucker: More that hitman is in a genre of one. I don't care what you call it, I guess I'd go with "Assassination" but semantics is defined as touching kids so I don't care. Metal gear alikes are stealth with significant and mandatory action segments , splinter cell is basically dead but did the same, 2D stealth games that I'm aware of either also have action segments or lack the set-piece arrangement. Everything else I can think of has stealth elements but only complementary. SS13 for random example in some places gets close for in that quite a few antagonist roles rely highly on stealth and use of disguises and tools (and set pieces to a degree) but it's only an element of the game, not the majority and some antag roles are shifted heavily to straight action. It doesn't fucking matter though, just play the game and enjoy it or shit on it because it's shit. Don't touch kids.
>>739515874disguises arent completely useless in HITMAN but some levels are really obvious about disguises basically just being keycards that grant you access to certain areas. other levels sometimes have disguises that dont work on certain parts of the map so you have to actually change, but the gameplay look 90% of the time is just find an isolated guard, strangle him, take his suit, then find the next higher level guard to do the same thing again
>>739515874HITMAN is much more logically excusable on that. If you wore a disguise, not all in the team of soldiers will be suspicious of you, only a couple of them which you can explain as higher ranking officers
>>739514256Getting a bit personal there.
>>739514071Hurt guy is a weird stealth game because your goal isn't to get to a certain place, it's to kill someone, and there are a few other things that make it less appealing to someone looking for like a new MGS.
>>739514071I've always considered Hitman more of an assassin/espionage series than a stealth series. Even in the newer games, the stealth is basically the same as UbiSlop like Far Cry just with the addition of disguises and hazards like cameras.
>>739515147Half of the levels in Contracts are remakes of Codename 47 ones, but with much less jank and a fresh coat of paint. It's a good game and I don't understand the derision some people have for it.Blood Money is a distilled version of Hitman's mechanics and level design philosophy. You absolutely should play it if you liked the first two.
>>739514472Who's the guy with the mustache? Ocelot?
>>739518790Kek that's 47 with Snake's headband tail in front of him
Anybody looking forwards to this?
what happened to that multiplayer mode they announced like a year ago then never talked about again? did they even say what it was gonna be, like regular missions but 2 players or would be be some shittier version of those MP sniper missions
>>739519296Looks like Clueso yes
>>739519464But clue is a bad game
is anyone hyped for 007?
>>739519562more hyped for threads and tuber videos shitting on it
>>739519562im interested in it because IO has really knocked it out of the park for the most part with hitman 3, but man does it look like storygame slop like uncharted. ill probably wait until i see actual gameplay before i buy it
>>739519562I'm into it, a more shooty Hitman thats in another IP sounds fun. Absolution was decent for that but not good enough so I hope 007 is better
>>739514235The worst MGS is still shits on Thief a thousand times over lol
>>739519519No you're the bad game
I do not mean this in disrespect, my fellow Hitmanbros. Hitman is amazing, some of the best games of the genre but they are more fun killing sandboxes than stealth puzzles. The early games suck at stealth and are only fun when you know what you're supposed to do because you get to indulge in fun kills. The puzzle itself is fucking garbage. The modern games are better at actual stealth but the main fun is still the creative kills. It's like we don't consider MGS before V to be the best stealth games. Normies do but their opinions don't count. They only say MGS because it's literally the only stealth game they've ever played and they run and gunned it like the savages they are. Stealth isn't the reason those games are good. Splinter Cell, Thief, Dishonored are more pure stealth experiences and for that deserve the top spot even if Hitman is on par in fun.respectfully Silent Assassin > Blood Money
>>739514071because hitman is not a stealth game, its a puzzle game
>>739519830what's so good about 3? I finished 1 and currently playing the cartel mission on 2
>>739520706oh i mean mostly that they turned it into WOA which is basically just 1-3 repackaged with all the upgrades of 3 (yes i know there were some good things in 1 that got dropped in 2 or 3) and the roguelite mode can be kinda fun too
>>739515932Hitman's almost a freeform adventure game. As opposed to there being a puzzle with a single solution, it encourages improvisation.I wouldn't say it's an action game at all. The point is to try not to engage with the action mechanics. MGS on the other hand is pretty much an action game. It splits the difference between Pac-Man style chase-mazes, and outright shooting sequences.
>>739519296i never player board games. how does this even work?
>>739519562Sure, but I probably wont pay full price for it.I'm curious to see what a Hitman style game that isn't all about assassination will look like. We already have some hints of it, like the mission they have shown where you're freeing hostages.I'm hoping for a lot of typical Bond shit, like being able to play a game of cards to get one over on an enemy, or charm people by acting high-society. I suspect there will be at least one sneak into the enemy base to recover a particular mcguffin mission.
>>739514071Because "stealth" refers to to a specific playstyle, hiding behind boxes, hiding in the dark, sneaky thief like stuffHitman is about social stealth, if all you care about is the dictionary definition then yeah sure it's the "same" as the other two, but in practice they're not
>>739514190Other way around.
>>739514071What's crazy is playing old Ass Creed games and realizing they were clearly inspired by shitman and borrowed a lot of mechanics. But all that DNA is long gone from the franchise.
>>739521268>social stealthThe word you are looking for is deception. Its a stealth and deception game.
>>739514297Only Blood Money babbies that want disguises to act like invisibility cloaks think 2SA is bad.Contracts is still the best of the original quad.
>>739522326regular stealth is also a deception
>>739522326He's looking for the phrase social stealth.
