In retrospect, DS3 really was just Elden Ring beta

"Fire" is a much cooler word than "fuego".
"Fuego" sounds like something I dip my fucking tortilla chips in.

unironically what's the right move to kill this guy other than rolling away and spamming magic
>>
>>739516805
>Dies in two hits from basic heal
>Heal has a faith requirement of 12
>All starting classes have at least 7 faith
>Two Finger seal increases faith by 5, found immediately upon entering Liurnia, the first place you encounter revenants
>Note that tells you revenants are weak to healing sold by the merchant at the south tip of Liurnia right outside of Godrick's boss room
Come on, nigga

Cast heal, twice. Dead instantly, zero risk. Otherwise just hit it really, really hard right at the start of the fight so that you don't have to try to dodge it much. It's poison attack can be punished hard, you know it's happening when it does that horrible low pitched roar.
>>
>>739514437

>Orbe de fuego
You are brown.

>>739516912
pick one
>spending a while with a single one of them until you figure out the moveset so now you know how to deal with him for future fights
>powerful shields and guard counters
>strong enough offense that it doesnt matter
>just have the heal hardcounter
>learn how to evade it but not how to attack it efficiently, then figure out one attack with a really easy window. abuse that until victory
>be able to just poise tank trade it to death, bonus points if using something that heals your health back like prayerful strike
>playing nightreign instead where you have lots of cool abilities and fast surge sprint to help you out
>flop around and panic like a retard every time you see one (this is what i did for my 80 hours of elden ring)
>>
>>739517008
>revenants are weak to heal
>heal has unfathomable dogshit range
>revenants are fast and stunlock you to fuck
>heals have awful cast times
"weak" to heal doesn't mean anything when you get stagger raped if you even try it
>>
>>739517510
The AOE on heal is much larger than it appears and every single revenant in the game except for one can easily be sneaked up on. Most of them even have to spawn in at a location that you can see and plan around in advance and the spawning animation takes a couple of seconds during which they can't react. The first hit of heal puts them into hard knockdown, allowing you to do the second cast with no risk.

The only one that's even remotely tricky is the one summoned by the Tibia Mariner in the DLC, which you will have to actually try to fight normally, probably. But if you're quick on the ball you can get the heal out before it starts fucking your ass.

>>739517073

Nope, I just felt like replaying it again and got reminded of this funny enemy
>>
>>739517008
So in this big ass open world, I need to find the exact Merchant to buy the note. These notes which are hardly ever useful. Then need to know what a "Revenant" is, then go out of my way to find all the things necessary, dumping points into a stat I don't need or want, and then hope and pray he stays still long enough and doesn't stunlock me so I can cast it twice. Got to be fast as well, because the second cast might come out slower than his recovery.
If this guy was in ds2, you wouldn't try to defend it. He's just a poorly made enemy.
>>
>>739514437
He horny
>>
>>739516912
First of all, don't roll away. His attacks are all lunges that launch it forward further than your backroll distance. Roll sideways instead.
>>
>>739514521
What a weird way to describe games iterating on the previous entry.
>>
>>739516912
Just roll to the side...
Shit his arm flailing has awful tracking, you can just sideroll once then circle his ass while hitting him. Any time he teleports, he might immediately hit you, so get ready to block or dodge.

>So in this big ass open world, I need to find the exact Merchant to buy the note
The one that's in your only way into Liurnia, yes.
>These notes which are hardly ever useful
On a first playthrough, they give pretty useful information. Though admittedly, plenty of players overlook them. But that's the game innit.
>Then need to know what a "Revenant" is
Fair, but also in Liurnia is the one with a boss health bar. That one's all the way up before the Carian manor and in a somewhat hidden ruins dungeon. But there aren't very many revenants before then (just a few in the flooded forest, I think?), the only time the game puts them really in your way is waaaaaaaay later, in Haligtree.
>>
>>739514437
I always want to come back to DS3 but the thought of going through the early game until the Catacombs puts me out of it.

Yes, I know it's more linear than DS2 and DS1 but even those two games I take the same path every single team and the early game isn't such a slog in comparison
>>
>>739520680
>Then need to know what a "Revenant" is,
I guess the problem is that you're ESL
