To be honest I always thought AC4 got way too much praise. The naval battles were alright, it did get a bit repetitive, boarding ships feels way too similar and crap with the do 3 goals that after a while start feeling like a tedious MMORPG quest, here go kill 10 sailors, climb and get the flag and whatever else it was. The on foot sections of the games are awful, extremely uninspired with those tailing missions. They even put an awful boat tailing mission. It just got praise because ACIII was one of the worst AAA games of the PS3 and PS4 generation, it was that bad, horrible tedious and you had a neanderthal retarded player character who always mumbled "whatouthavemedo" with zero charisma who always did whatever whoever asked like a dog.ACIV got praised because it was alright in face of how III wanted to make you kill yourself due to how completely awful it was.

I grew up with Doom and then 5 years later Unreal came out and the leap forward in 3d graphics was absolutely unbelievable. 10 years can pass now and the differences are no where near as substantial. The other thing is weaker consoles like the 360 and PS3 will never fully achieve the high levels of AA, AF, AO etc. that a powerful PC at the time would have so when you apply that to a game like AC4 which was on 360/PS3 at the beginning it's going to look a lot better. You can apply so much brute force to older games to make them look substantially better than their original platforms.
