I'm itching for a decent digital card game. I used to play Hearthstone and Mtga but those have gone to shit. If you have an indie project going let me know
>>739531367I wanted to make one but then I remember it's a pain in the ass because then you have to code a special effect every time a card has a special effect, and then it's hard to add online functionality because I've never done that before, etc. ends up being too much of a hassle so I quit lol.
>>739532107And then you have to be keeping track of the grid where the cards live and stuff it's annoying it's too much effort since I already work fulltime tho lol.
>>739531367theres none manive been looking>not one has a fun gameplay loop>or doesnt die in 3 months>or doesnt nickle and dime you>or requires you to play 20 matches a day to acquire currency
>>739532107Have you considered making it physical instead?
>>739532404I've been looking as well, it's why I made the thread. I'm planning on making my own just so I can play something I enjoy but it will be physical
>>739532418physical nowadays is ass, the good games get scalped to death, the "might be good" games like lorcana also gets collectorfag'd
>>739531367Does it have to be multiplayer? There are plenty of good singleplayer card games.
>>739532481>>739532482Well yeah but who says you have to be TCG-making scum. Make a living card game. Hell, I'll release mine for free, print and play on itch
>>739532518Yeah should've mentioned that
>>739532585Then I'm sorry but I don't know of a single good multiplayer TCG.
I played a lot of Hearthstone, Master Duel, and Shadowverse. They have become pick your poison because none of these digital card games have ever been good. I have never spent a dime on these games, but it still something to play when I'm bored at the bus stop.
Take the dominion pill.$150USD to get everything in the game on steam. You keep all cards and all remain relevant for as long as you want to use them>but its a deckbuilder not a tcg!Yes. All TCGs are gachas by design and therefore suck. Unless you want to play artifact (lmao)
>>739532737This one?
>>739532737Well I never mentioned tcgs, there are other distribution models you know. Also dominions flavour is so fucking boring
>>739532774Ye>>739532824It is but do you want to paypig 100usd every new tcg set?
>>739532824I guess I shouldn't be picky but with how popular card games got you'd think at least one was good. Collectors ruined everything
I'll resume work on my card game at the end of July, if I can't find a programmer irl I might make a thread and ask here. I'm planning to pay them ofc. Might try running a Kickstarter to gather funds but the project would be non-profit
>>739531367Eternal is pretty similar to MTG and fairly generous, it plays around with a bit of that hearthstone RNG but not to the extremes hearthstone itself doesthe core gameplay difference with MTG is that mana is colorless, instead lands themselves have color and you just need to have a certain amount of colored land to cast something even if it has been tapped for the turn
>>739533458whys it getting raped in the recent reviews
I know that OP card from somewhere I'm making the euro truck simulator of TCGs, whats your advice /v/
Is The Bazaar worth playing?
>>739533628I dunno I haven't played in years
>>739533759Yeah it's wixoss, I got it from the /acg/ thread. I remember you
>>739533789its alright. but it gets solved pretty much instantly
>>739533789Its ok but auto battlers are kinda boring to be desuTFT probably best auto battler and it costs nothing
>>739531367My friend is currently playing Riftbound through RiftAtlas and is having fun with it so I might try it out
>>739532107>>739532193I have the opposite issue, I can code it just fine but suck ass at card games even though I like them and wouldn't be able to properly balance it.
>>739534862If you aren't busy starting from August I might hire somebody from here
>>739534986Actually check the acg thread on tg instead, I think that's a better place for organising
>>739531367Digimon will be dropping a mobile card game later this year.
>>739535565WHERE IS IT BANDAI
>>739531367I play the One Piece card game pretty much just digitally. The fan made sim is fully automated, most of the player base uses it and it's updated pretty regularly. It's pretty ugly but it's pretty functional
>>739534248I wanted to learn TFT, but learning TFT is pretty much learning league since im a dota guy and thats far too much to take on
>>739535565they need huge changes to make it not sure and i dont trust bandai one bit
>>739535779not shit*also im sure digimon (mobile only) and dragon ball fusion world client (non-steam, pc client thats hidden away behind bandai's website, dogshit monetization) are all just testbeds to see how much they can get away with until the eventual OP tcg client comes and is just good enough for them to nickle and dime the playerbase
>>739535739Learning TFT isn't that bad. It's having to relearn it every few months when a new set comes out is annoying.
>>739534248I really should get back to playing tft but I heard this current set is shittier than usual
The digital card game market is pretty fucking fucked right now. Most the "big" ones are making a fraction of what they used to and some are in a full blown death spiral (Snap).Physical TCG are also doing better than ever. So many aren't getting digital versions in fear that people would stop buying the physical product, like One Piece.
>>739536382Snap had such fun gameplay i loved it so much but the dev/monetization side of things were so fucking badFcuk ben brode
>>739536616Brode knows how to make fun card games but he is a huge bootlicking coward faggot. When higherups come along wanting to rape his game with the worst monetization imaginable he just spreads his ass and smiles. Early HS also died off mainly from how greedy it was.
I hope they make a Sorcery online game
>>739536382>Physical TCG are also doing better than everFucking howR*dditors complaining about how fucked the economy is and then they line up for a new set every 2 monthsAt least in digital a 10 buck pack is 10 bucks and doesnt get scalper marked to 5x because of faggots
>>739537160Funnily enough, i'm finally seeing Sorcery packs at my local gameshopCrazy, considering how niche it isI'll never see a flesh and blood pack in person tho lol
>>739534862you should code up some of those first waveTCG that popped up after magic was a hit. Always wanted to try them out even though they're surely just bad or a clone
>>739537190Scalpers are buying out the shelves so physical always sells well. The 2nd hand market is now overloaded with singles to buy so the actual players can easily build decks. Players don't give a shit about sealed product, only collectorfags are getting fucked by the current scalper economy.
>>739535565Really? I got a deck for collection purposes but I would love to try playing this online with people on a digital server.
Gauging interestWould you play a streetwear themed, zombie themed, pinup game? Basically zombie girls with the aesthetic of early ZZZ characters before waterkuma was fired and the characters went back to mihoyoslop
>>739537860Sir, this is a card game thread.
>>739534248Auto chess is less than a game than gachas. It's probably the most boring genre I have ever encountered. The winner is all about who rolls dice better.I guess it's a perfect game to play in the background while you do other stuff but I rather just play solitare on windows instead.
How long did you guys stick with Shadowverse WB? I quit after four seasons. Didn't even stick around for the half-assed campaign missions which had somehow more dialogue and less battles than the previous game.
>>739535876The sad part about the eventual OP TCG official sim its that it's orobably going to come with a cease and desist letter to the fan made sims
>>739532107>too much of a hassle so I quit/v/ is the defeatist board Every board made a game except the video games one
I know how to play Yu Gi Oh, Magic, Pokemon, and Hearthstone/Shadowverse. What is the One Piece TCG like?
>>739538231"/v/" doesn't do shit (except Katawa Shoujo). On the other hand, several developers that just happened to be /v/irgins have made MANY games.
>>739538234I guess closer to Hearthstone if anything.
>>739538098>How long did you guys stick with Shadowverse WB?I looked at the steam reviews then didn't play it.
>>739531367Digital card games will always be shit
Maybe youd be interested in a deck builder. Heart of Crown is pretty fun. Its on steam and english.
>>739538098I don't like the super evolution gimmick. That ruined the game for me
>>739539164I'm tired of deckbuilders, I want more free roam RPGs with card game battles.
>>739539164Personally, I'm waiting on the full release of Sakura Arms. Maybe then I'll manage to get games outside of Japan hours.
>>739538098I REALLY fucking loved it, but had to bow out early (like before the first set) because i saw the writing on the wallThe rate you earn currency is super ass, even more jew than marvel snap, the amount of shitty dailies they were
>>739537886I forgot to mention that it is, in fact, a card game
>>739539164PC or Online?
>>739539375Even if you could afford to make every new deck you wanted the balance was fucking atrocious. The Cocy-D instant win deck that shat up ranked since launch is still in the game, and still carrying Runecraft players to Diamond.
>>739539621Online. PC is the old one. No reason to play it.
>>739532107I had a dream of a new card game during the crayola virus quarantine. It involved army cards moving around the typical tile field and a single territory card in the middle of the field that affected both players. You raced to capture and hold that and could then manipulate the battlefield, like turning the City Field into a City Ruins or a Wasteland, etc. You could add modifier cards to modify the army cards and the decks were themed. There were like millions of decks for each videogame and media series and I hit random and got an EDF deck and my opponent had a CoD deck or something.I recorded the minutiae of it but I can't be assed to go through the thousands of dream logs since then but it looked cool in my dream I swear.
>>739531367the lord of the rings card game but you have to play on dragncards or tabletop simulator
>>739531367Just make your own card game and play it on tabletop simulator.
For me, I like ShadowverseWB, Yugioh Masterduel, and PokemonTCG Live.
>>739540785I've been purposefully avoiding shadowverseWB because I heard it had an abysmal launch. Is it really worth getting into? Did it get better?
>>739540952no and noAvoid that horrendous piece of shit "game" at all costs
>>739540952>Is it really worth getting into?Only if you're Japanese.>Did it get better? The game is broken at the fundamental level with things like SEVOs making you immune to clash damage. There is no making it better.
>>739539732>*laughs in spellboost*
>>739539164Do they have the expansion yet? I have the whole thing physically, but I heard the steam version is bad and lacking a lot of cards.
>>739541183>earth rite support released?>nope it's actually spellboost support lol
>>739541360It's complicatedThe old, original release Heart of Crown PC only has 2 of the 5 expansions, so it's missing a decent number of cards.Heart of Crown Online is actually based on the 2nd revision version of the game, which has various changes to cards and some mechanics. The 2nd revision currently only has the first expansion released, which the game has. So it has all of the 2nd expansion cards, which is less cards than the original version.
>>739541639Ah, very weird. So no Fairy Garden or its two expansions, but it has the second edition and the expansion for it? I guess that's something; I've never played second edition.
Cards and castles would actually be peak if the developer didn't suck at everything
>Make decent game>Too easy to get everything>No carrot on a stick so to speak>game diesthe casuals or the spenders really need to spend money everymonth or they just move on
>>739541805Correct. And the first expansion and unreleased second expansion are the same as the first two expansions for the first game. So just looking at it it has less cards but I'd say the game is better balanced overall.
>>739531367>>739532404I agree. There is none if you want an enjoyable online game you can play daily while slowly building your collection and looking forward to new sets.Single player is the way to go:>DS & PSP Yu-Gi-Oh games>Cardfight Vanguard Dear Days (overpriced)>Shadowverse on SwitchThere are way more than that out there, I've personally been looking forward to Culdcept getting a sequel (reboot?) in mid july
>>739542016Nah the gameplay just sucked ass. The death of Runeterra had nothing to do with it's monetization.
>>739537190>Fucking howPeople buy cards the same way one buys gold jewelry or make a sports bet, they see it as an investment or gambling>>739538098Day 1I was so hyped for the game, but then they announced a new set every single month and it killed any hope I had for the gameLow powered early metas of a TCG are often looked fondly upon and cherished, no clue why they thought it'd be a good idea to pretty much kill that meta in the cribThe in-game economy being crap cemented my decision
>>739539164>Yuji Himukai drew cards for Heart of CrownGonna have to take a look at that game, especially since it even has a physical release with English>>739539232Old games are pretty much your only way to goMost recent one I can think of is pic related
>>739538098I lasted until right before the third set. Jewishness was cranked up to the max, game ran poorly on my 2 year old phone, and the gameplay didn't stick with me the way the first one did. Universal evo stats kills interesting card design the first game had, and sevo is just broken. If they ever print more free sevos (fuck Gildaria) or sevo point recovery, the game will die within a year or two. Kinda sad about it though because the first game was my favorite and I expected WB to be better but it turned into an unoptimized cashgrab with pretty art. And they're killing the first game after next month, so I'm enjoying what little time I have left with it.
>>739542918I feel doubly betrayed because I only got into Shadowverse on the tail end of its run (playing restoration havencraft cancer lol), so WB giving everyone a fresh start was exciting for a newer fan like me.
>>739531367For me it was pic related throughout most of high school.Apparently while looking up pic related it got revived as a mobile game called Kanatales. Looking at reviews people say its pretty much the same game but with some added flare(and apparently the same issues with online) so hey if your curious go for it
My dreams>One Piece: Gets an online client, after experimenting with DBZ and Digimon, Bandai finally gets their shit together>Hasbro's CDH client if they haven't killed it: should be fun for a few sets>Lorcana: Don't think Disney will ever let this go digital, though>Flesh and Blood: faggot kiwi, becoming too jew with his cardboard, online client never ever>Sorcery: Would be cool>Grand Archive: Anime enough that if it got an online client it might actually retain some playersI want GA, bros.
We're also getting a Weiß Schwarz by the same dudes who made the cardfight videogame, no idea how it plays, i just know its the tcg will a billion collabs
>>739543360>single player adventure modeBUY BUY BUY BUY
>>739543158Why OP over digimoytcg specifically?
>>739543158Digimon has a client coming thoughOne Piece, you can play on OPTCGSIMGrand Archive has one in the works.
>>739543360Never played weiss schwarz before, from the looks of it does it play like vanguard?
>>739543407Why the fuck wont jews of the coast do this and make a shitzillion dollars
>>739544828They're taking notes from Konami and all the money Duel Links and Master Duel print. We get Arena (lol) or nothing.
>>739539164I keep meaning to buy this, I brought the physical thing years ago but never got a chance to play it
>>739537190Mtg is making record profit every year thanks to commander, scalpers and collector stuff
>>739546805And they're being sued for the damage they caused in the processMTG Arena is just one of the casualties, that game could be dominating the digital TCG space, instead it's dying even faster that the rest of the genre
>>739537860He wasn't fired, stop spreading your /vmg/ schizo nonsense outside your board
>>739539164I've got all of it physical and you can really tell that the company released a TCG between editions.
The Gundam tcg has a online simulator that works really well, it's called Mobile Suit Arena.>>739543158>SorceryGod I wish we could get a proper online game for it, playing on Tabletop Simulator feels weird imo.
>>739532482Sorcery has a nice balance atm. You can still get all 3 sets for roughly MSRP, most singles are fairly reasonably prices (outside of some chase and foils). They also only release one set a year. The biggest thing is that it's actually fun.
>>739546436Master dual has a fairly substantial amount of single player mission stuff
Only real niggas will know
