An actually good Bubsy game comes out and there isn't a single thread on the VIDEO GAMES board of 4chan. /v/ really doesn't play games, huh?

Well I just got the top 50 spot on fleece highway. Try and beat my time, faggots.

>Only 20 dollars.
What's the catch?
>>
>>739534797
Game will crash on you. Wait for a patch.
>>
>>739534797
The game will not crash on you, ignore the fucking liar. I dunno watch a youtube review on it or something. If you like 3d platformers with really big and overpowered movesets you'd like this game.
>>
>>739534761
I still need to get all the basic time goals.
I hope the secret level is worth it and not just a brutal bullshit level.
>>
>>739535176
>brutal bullshit level
I love that kind of thing. Nothing since Corn Kidz 64 has satisfied me with a ball-busting secret level.
>>
>>739535082
Dev, fix your game.
>>
>>739535082
>The game will not crash on you, ignore the fucking liar.
there are schizos on here that hate indie games and will just go into threads about ones they don't like and lie about them. I remember when Spark 3 came out there was one super dedicated guy just making up all sorts of bullshit about the game in every thread and trying to convince people not to play it. Incredibly bizarre behavior. I can't imagine being so joyless and hating video games that much.
>>
>>739535237
Honestly I'm just waiting for another game to have a secret on par with void screws.
>>
>>739534761
Is it on the shelves at Walmart?
>>
>>739535640
Uh, maybe? there is a physical release on the switch 2.
>>
>>739535786
I should have looked today but I psyched myself out
>>
>>739534761
It's good to get a fun 3D platformer when it feels like those never come out. I still think Bubsy 3D is so toxic that a sequel to it can't succeed.
>>
>>739535362
First day on /v/? It literally happens to every game where people will make shit up just to hate on it
>>
>>739536115
Bubsy 3D gets a bad wrap, it's not that bad. It just happened to come out around the time Mario 64 did.
>>
>>739536115
>Bubsy 3D is so toxic that a sequel to it can't succeed

Nah, that's like the only reason it's getting any attention online at all. "Dude that legendarily bad game got a sequel that's actually GOOD! Isn't that crazy?"

If Bubsy 3D didn't have that reputation, nobody would be talking about this game.
>>
>>739536121
I just found it particularly egregious when it happened to this small indie game made by one dude and there's literally no reason to hate on it. That kind of thing genuinely does hurt sales for these super small solo projects.

You're just a furry with shit standards who wants to fuck that ugly cat
>>
>>739536189
It is a sort of free advertising to be recognized as the sequel to Bubsy 3D. I still think that doesn't translate into people wanting to buy it.
>>
>>739536696
On steam charts the peak was 550 players, so definitely not crazy numbers. It's a pretty low budget game though so I think it'll do okay

Funny enough that peak is almost twice as high as Demon Tides, the dev's original game that came out a few months ago.

It's shit

I don't understand why you wouldn't just buy a regular ad?
>>
Is this one of those so-called Scrimblo Bimblo games?
>>
>>739535237
Just play Rayman 1 (forma de PS1), the entire game is ball-busting
>>
>>739535578
I haven't played Corn Kidz, but I know a few games that have some really substantial challenges locked behind secrets that most players will never see. It kind of dampens the effect to even tell you the names of the games though, so I'll spoiler the list, and then after you look at it, forget the list and then find the games organically.
Cruelty Squad
Moon Child
Cave Story
Baba Is You
La-Mulana
>>
>>739537682
It's new so it doesn't fit with most Scrimblo games being from the 90s. I guess the first 3 count, though there's not many people who love any of them.
>>
>>739534761
The existence of a new Bubsy game shows how vile nostalgia cashgrabs are. Bubsy is fucking SHIT and should have stayed DEAD in its toilet swirling grave. FUCK BUBSY.
>>
>>739534761
The game is bad on purpose. It's Platformer YIIK.
Of course the contrarian faggots on /v/ would slurp this up.
>>
tried a few 9 lives runs tonight, got to the last boss but got owned. game is good!
>>
I wish the movement was half as versatile and the level design was 4x as good.
The level design is garbage and the movement gives you way too many options so everything is boring.
There's not enough gimmicks, everything feels samey. Same pins you jump boost on, same tubes you roll down. There should be more levels/worlds with unique gimmicks that get developed and challenge you.
>>
>>739534761
Because it's not good and your shill threads failed.
>>
>>739539189
Having what is a essentially three air jumps as a way to compensate for sparse floating death level design is what the devs are known for.
>>
>>739539449
>but they're KNOWN for making shit games
>>
>>739539546
You're outing yourself as a shitter if you're mad that a platformer has death pits.
The air actions are distinct even though they're all technically ways of jumping farther. The Yoshi flutter kicks is a more traditional air jump, there's a glide specifically to descend slowly, and the pounce is for moving forward quickly. Using one without overshooting a jump and dying is fun.
>>
>>739538478
Not really the same kind of secret.
finding the secret itself was the challenge. and when you did find it, there was a reward.

These games, had secrets, but they weren't fun.

although could you link moon child I had a few show up and none of the games seem right.
>>
>>739539970
>finding the secret itself was the challenge. and when you did find it, there was a reward
That's the same for most of those games that I mentioned. The reward is a greater challenge where the game stops pulling its punches and you get to experience it at its maximum potential. Most of those games don't tell you that the secret is there, or that it's substantial to your experience of the game, which is why I was hesitant to even tell you the names in the first place because discovering the secret is a large part of the triumph. Most people aren't smart enough to even realize that the secret is there

>>
>>739539918
where did I complain about death pits? The problem is, a map that's mostly a death pit isn't a threat at all cause you have supreme air mobility and can jump and glide anywhere and recover from any mistake. The pits in any mario game are more of a hazard cause you can't do any of that.
>>
>>739534761
Bubsy is a d-list franchise. It was pretty obvious there wasn't going to be any enthusiasm.
>>
So we're all playing it ironically, yes?
>>
>>739542638
It made me go back and finish off demon tides which I had stalled out on right at the end.
Comparing them right next to each other is interesting.
>>
>>739542925
Yeah, Bubsy 4d is just a reskin of Demon Turf.
>>
It's the only bubsy game that's anywhere close to good and honestly it's actually fun to play. Characters can be a bit grating, but the gameplay is solid enough. Short, but worth the $20 I'd say. I wish more games would follow this philosophy.
>>
>>739542638
You can think and say you're doing something ironically, but it's not really any different from just doing something.
