I've never played it. Have always wanted to, but it always seemed too daunting. Not the mechanics/game itself, but really how I would even start it. Should I finally pick it up?
Play the OG console versions.
>>739535402Minecraft is fun for a couple hours, then it becomes the most tedious game ever made as you're expected to terraform the whole damn world to make pointless structures. If you can goad other people to play with you then that might be fun for a couple more hours. It's design in extremely player hostile and anti-fun ways, like beating the game requires micromanaging resources that are scattered hours away from each other, multiple times. Just grinding and grinding and grinding on top of grinding. It really fell apart when Notch sold it. No cohesive vision for it.
>>739535402They added shit to actually create some semblance of intended game design. I believe it's a set of "achievements" of shit like punch a tree and make a pickaxe. You can figure out how to play pretty quick, though you'll eventually realize there's not much to do other than building something.
It's le webbing based /v/ gayme.
>>739535402I only really like playing this when I was doing achievements like it's a checklist of things to do, but once when those are done there's really fucking nothing to do.
>>739535402Vanilla minecraft is a fun sandbox but gets old fairly quick unless you really enjoy the building aspect.Modded minecraft, on the other hand, is the actual greatest game of all time, with a ton of options depending on your preferred playstyle. My favorite is Gregtech New Horizons, an extremely long progressive tech mod.
