Metroidvania designers need to learn the importance of first impressions, and the limits of the modern gamer's patience. Animal Well is instantly interesting. This game isn't, and I fear many players will refund the game long before they're interacting with its deepest secrets.

Played the demo a couple of days ago, liked the mechanics of scanning shit and figuring out how shit behaves. Navigating the place, however, felt a lot more cumbersome than it should with cluttered screens, too many fake walls and having to constantly loop around a path just to backtrack a bit.

You can deduce them through many different ways, one of them being noticing that the stone tablet hints just use substitution cipher when being scanned, so you can turn the translation on and off to figure out the numbers.
