I upgraded from a 3080 to a 5080 this year and I have so far been astounded by how good new releases like RE9 and Subnautica 2 look with full raytracing. Even games like Lego Batman look great, though I don't know if hyper realistic lighting is the right choice for Lego games. The 5080 has enough VRAM to play everything I am interested in at 1440p Ultra 60-80+ fps with no upscaling. Older stuff like Metro Exodus (which also looks great with RTX) get 120+ fps no upscaling. Then there is DLSS which can crank all of those numbers up by 30 fps. People who will tell you it makes the games blurry etc are literally just poor favela monkeys whose idea of DLSS comes from the 3000 series cards. With the new cards I only get weird artifacting if I'm using frame generation which is not necessary with 16gb vram.

Your motherboard might not identify the new CPU if you don't. Also wouldn't hurt to backup any data you have. Just watch tutorials online how to install AM5 CPU though, Pushing down the lever that locks the CPU down can be nervewracking. >How would I know if I needed a new cooler? If you're using a stock cooler then yeah, I would recommend buying a new one. 9800x3d is a fairly powerful chip and it can run hot but any dual tower air cooler would do. Just also remember to check if the cooler has brackets that supports AM5. AIOs are decent as well from what I've heard.
