>>739565991I feel like Mafia 1 at least had some missions that gave you enough freedom to approach them the way you wanted to. But yeah after replaying Mafia 2 a few months ago I really don't understand why people consider it the best game in the series. It's so painfully scripted it might even be worse than Old Country in that regard, I've seen chase sections with cars literally disappearing into thin air a few inches in front of me because I was supposed to lose the guy I was chasing according to the story. The only thing Mafia 2 has got going over Old Country is that the shooting sections are a bit more fun to play.
I really don't get these games. They're obviously more like movies and tv shows than actual games and all these things mixing up together make for a very boring, bland and overall predictable experience. Why would I fucking pay for something like this or even worse play through it? I really really don't get it.

The presentation and atmosphere are better too (remaster feels more scripted, less immersive). It's janky but keep in mind it started development before GTA3 was even a thing
