Looking back, Sony's big mistake (other than buying Bungie) was having no consequences for Naughty Dog dragging their feet and intentionally doing a shit job developing live service hoping it would get cancelled because they thought they were too good for it. It sent the message to all the other studios that they didn't have to deliver on live service if they didn't want to, which is why Sony ended up with a dozen cancelled or failed projects. They've now sent that message by closing Bluepoint after pissing away years and not having anything to show on a live service GoW game that was pitched by Bluepoint in the first place, but it's too late.
