One of the pitches doing the rounds this month at Sony has leaked. It is, in essence, Destiny Left 4 Dead. The sell being that you do not play Guardians but normal people set during some form of Hive Invasion. The vast majority of enemies are Thralls and sub breeds. The traditional glowy explosive lad but also a new moth winged abductor and web spinning variants. With a regular Hive Knight or Wizard seen as the Tank/Witch equivalent where its better to run than fight. According to insiders this is an attempt at an ODST style release. Smaller in budget, reuses a lot of assetts and relies on weaker characters to push faster gameplay and create a repeatable loop for online co-op fun thats familiar to shooter fans but fresh enough to lure in players beyond Destiny much like how Darktide brought in none 40K fans. The difference of course is ODST was a linear campaign but by being an online co-op speedrun shooter for lack of a more specific term this can give it the longevity Sony is looking for while reducing production costs.Theres no word if its been greenlit yet but this is one of 5 ideas being pitched, another being a Until Dawn style game and the others are unknown outside one pvp only project. Insiders expect this one to hit with leadership as its proven to be quite a safe bet with its own little sub genre in the baffling void left by Valve abandoning Left 4 Dead after 2 back in the late 2000's and will probably be the cheapest to produce in a quick turn around.
